I met a [name]Blair[/name] today, In her 20’s
Not a name I hear very often.
What are your thoughts?
I’m afraid [name]Blair[/name] is strongly tied to our old PM in my head, so I can’t look upon it very favourably. Same goes for [name]Cameron[/name] But I’m warming to [name]Blaire[/name] though, which I like much more on a boy
I quite like it in a Scottish accent - said with almost two syllables like ‘BLEH-aarr’ rather than ‘blare’, but that’s because I have a weird thing about certain accents with certain names.
I went to primary school with a boy called [name]Blair[/name] (He was Scottish, I actually I still see him round occasionally) and I just don’t like it. He’s partly put me off - I tend to not like names of people I’ve known. He was very much an ‘oddball’ too.
I just don’t like the sound, it feels unpleasant, almost slimy to me, which is strange since I like similar sounding names like [name]Briar[/name] and [name]Fleur[/name].
I also feel like I’m saying ‘blah’.
But no, you don’t hear of many Blairs. Maybe if I met a female with the name, I might like it more?
[name]EDIT[/name]: Oh yes and the PM too, [name]Blair[/name] as in [name]Tony[/name]… can’t believe that didn’t click with me.
I like [name]Blair[/name]. I like it more for a girl than a boy, personally. I remember first hearing it when a girl attended my elementary school with me. She was probably 8 years ahead of me (technically, the school was Pre-K through 10th grade), but I still remember thinking it was interesting. I don’t love it now, but I do like it. For some reason, Blaer appeals to me more (Icelandic girl Blaer wins right to use given name - BBC News)–I think the meaning “light breeze” is lovely! And I love the idea of it being an Icelandic name–there’s something really ethereal and lovely about that.
When I hear the name [name]Blair[/name], I think of the character on the TV show The Facts of Life from the 80’s.
[name]Just[/name] what I was thinking BUT that said, I like the name for a girl. I think I prefer [name]Blaire[/name] though.
I went to high school (or middle school, or some schooling - it was a while ago…) with a female [name]Blair[/name] who was insanely popular. I’ve always associated it with the “mean girls” set - perhaps unfairly, as I don’t believe [name]Blair[/name] and I really had much interaction, though her familiars made my life a living hell.
As a name, it’s kind of “meh” to me, honestly. I neither like nor dislike it. I might favor it more in a middle name spot. I feel roughly the same about it for a boy, though it rings as more feminine to me.
I actually love [name]Blair[/name]. Its one of few unisex names that I would be really keen to use.
I like it.
It was one of my favourites, I still absolutely love it. My husband rejected it though because he said “why would you name your child a word that means a loud ugly noise?” (ie: “To [name]Blare[/name]” BLARing music etc) I had never looked at it like that, and I can’t convince him otherwise.
I like it but it has a lot of waspish, mean girl connections for me. But that’s just me. A feminine mn would be a lovely pair.
There was a very unpleasant [name]Blair[/name] in one of my classes, so unfortunately the name makes me think of snobby girls who like to turn up their noses.
I love the clean, preppy vibe of [name]Blair[/name]! Always been on my fave list. However, I named my son [name]Blake[/name] so it’s a no go for me
I love [name]Blair[/name]!
I only know a boy named [name]Blair[/name] but in barbie’s twelve dancing princesses there is a princess blair so I think of it as truly unisex and I kinda like it aswell.
I do quite like the name [name]Blair[/name], but not of enough for me to use. I would be very pleased to meet a [name]Blair[/name] though, I find it charming.
