Blaise or Creed?

I’m due any day and am still freaking out about a boy name for our little surprise. (Girl name is good to go.)

My husband and I have liked [name]Blaise[/name] for a long time, but are having last-minute concerns. Last night the name [name]Creed[/name] popped up. We definitely like the meaning of [name]Creed[/name] better than [name]Blaise[/name], but not sure if that should determine our decision. Any thoughts? (Siblings are [name]Knox[/name] and [name]Piper[/name] and our last name has 4 syllables and starts with a P.)

Thank you!!!

[name]Creed[/name] is too much of a word for me. It means:

1: a brief authoritative formula of religious belief
2: a set of fundamental beliefs; also : a guiding principle

I don’t really care for it as name for a person. It might also get misheard for Greed. [name]Creed[/name] also reminds me of the band that was popular when I was in highschool.

[name]Blaise[/name] is an interesting name with history and substance. It gets my vote by a long shot.

[name]Blaise[/name], without a doubt!

[name]IMO[/name], it’s always best to go with the name that you’ve already “lived” with for awhile. If you go with a spontaneous crush, you may get tired of it or it might just start sounding like the wrong decision after it’s already too late.

[name]Blaise[/name] for me !

[name]Blaise[/name] gets my vote too - partly because it is a long term love of mine but also because last minute changes to a previously unconsidered name feel like ‘panic buying’ to me and I think just casting around for new ideas out of the blue is more likely to bring on regret in the future.

[name]Blaise[/name] is a gorgeous name. [name]Creed[/name] is the name of a bad 90s [name]Christian[/name] rock band. It would be like naming your kid [name]Rush[/name] or Creedence.

[name]Creed[/name] is too wordy and to related to the band for me.

I’d vote for [name]Blaise[/name] or maybe even [name]Blaze[/name].
[name]Knox[/name] and [name]Blaze[/name] would be a nice match.

[name]Blaise[/name] is so much nicer than [name]Creed[/name].

Another vote for [name]Blaise[/name]! [name]Creed[/name] feels too heavy for me.

Definitely [name]Blaise[/name]. [name]Creed[/name] makes me think of “greed” and of the awful band.

I love [name]Blaise[/name], it has great history yet sounds very today, besides I have a grandchild with this name who is absolutely delightful with blue eyes and blond hair.

Thank you so much for the replies! The only reason we are having second thoughts on [name]Blaise[/name] is because of the meaning, “to lisp or stammer”…we are just worried about giving our child a name with such a meaning. Is it a big deal??

[name]Blaise[/name] is terrific! [name]Creed[/name] makes me think of [name]Creed[/name] from the Office - not a nice association.

Not at all I believe that it means [name]Light[/name] I read that somewhere. [name]Don[/name]'t hesitate it’s a lovely name!

I don’t mind the meaning of [name]Blaise[/name]. Lots of names have not so great meaning

I used to like [name]Creed[/name] until The Office. [name]Love[/name] the character but I just think of him when I hear it

Not at all. [name]Don[/name]'t hesitate it’s a lovely name!

[name]Blaise[/name] is also a really cool saint. It gets my vote.

I also vote for [name]Blaise[/name]. It has a cool namesake in [name]Blaise[/name] [name]Pascal[/name], plus it just sounds great. [name]Creed[/name] makes me think of that creepy guy on The Office.

Hey now, [name]Rush[/name] has been around for 40+ years. They deserve better than to be lumped in with the likes of [name]Creed[/name].

[name]Blaise[/name] gets my vote, hands down. [name]Creed[/name] is both terrible sounding and has associations with the worst band in the history of the world.
