I really am having a hard time deciding on a name- but I know I want to incorporate family somehow. My middle name is [name]Elizabeth[/name]- and it is also on both sides of the family. So we think we want to have her middle name [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Since that is pretty girly- I thought a unisex/different name would be nice as a first name to offset [name]Elizabeth[/name]. [name]Blake[/name] is my grandmothers maiden name- so I thought that would be neat to use. But then we like a couple of other names too…what do you think?
[name]Blake[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Cameron[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (my husband wants to spell it [name]Camryn[/name]- but I don’t think that looks right- almost too trendy)
[name]Campbell[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Reese[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]
[name]Collins[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] (very different- but ever since I heard it on the Blind Side I fell in love with it)
From your ideas, I like [name]Cameron[/name] the best. It’s strong and unisex, but it also has nickname potential ([name]Cam[/name], [name]Cammie[/name], etc.). I think [name]Blake[/name] is a little too masculine to be a boy’s name, even when paired with [name]Elizabeth[/name]. The only girl I’ve heard it on is [name]Blake[/name] Lively.
I actually prefer [name]Cameron[/name] too. Still has that tomboy vibe, but I like it a lot more than [name]Blake[/name]. Could always save [name]Blake[/name] for the next kid?
My pick would be [name]Collins[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], I always wondered if people would start to use that. At first when I heard it, I thought it was kind of a weird name, but now I really love it. My second choice would be [name]Blake[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], even though I’m usually way against boys names for girls. It always reminds me of [name]Blake[/name] Lively, more sophisticated than tomboyish. Plus, it actually means something to you personally.
I usually dislike unisex/masculine names for girls, but in this case, the family connection with [name]Blake[/name] makes it a good option. However, I think [name]Cameron[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] sounds better.
[name]How[/name] about [name]Blakely[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name]?
I like [name]Blake[/name] the best out of the list. I worked with a girl named [name]Blake[/name] who was very fashionable and sweet…and really managed to keep her cool in stressful situations! I also like the name [name]Lake[/name] which is similar and a bit more girly, but really doesn’t pair well with most last names.
I like [name]Blake[/name] better on a girl than a boy, but [name]Cameron[/name] I like more on a guy.
Personally, I don’t like [name]Blake[/name] on a girl, but in your case, I like that it has family significance for you, and out of your list, I like [name]Blake[/name] the best. I really like the suggestion of [name]Lake[/name], I agree, its more girly.
I love unisex names. I think [name]Blake[/name], [name]Collins[/name] and [name]Reese[/name] are fun and unique. I love them! I have a friend named [name]Clarke[/name] and she is always getting compliments on her name.
I don’t like [name]Blake[/name] on girls either, but [name]Reese[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is lovely! I would pick [name]Cameron[/name] (not [name]Camryn[/name]) second.
[name]Blake[/name] is originally a surname and as such is fair game! It has lovely meaning in your case and perfect flow with mn [name]Elizabeth[/name]. Some of your other combos are good and I also love [name]Collins[/name], but in your case, I would positively go with the name that has family value! Good luck
I agree with previous posters about [name]Blake[/name] being usable as it’s a surname name with family significance. I’ve only ever heard it used on a boy (with the exception of [name]Blake[/name] Lively) but I think it could work as a female first name, especially paired with a feminine middle name. I’m not big on male/surname names on girls, but I think if there’s a family connection in there it’s a nice touch and I’d say go with [name]Blake[/name] over the other. I don’t like [name]Collins[/name] as a first name at all, it sounds to me like you’d be saying '[name]Collin[/name]‘s [name]Elizabeth[/name]’ and that [name]Collin[/name] owns [name]Elizabeth[/name] or something, it’s just the vibe I get. [name]Reese[/name] and [name]Cameron[/name], while unisex, still have the association with one person on the female side to me ([name]Reese[/name] Witherspoon, [name]Cameron[/name] [name]Diaz[/name]) and while [name]Blake[/name] does as well, you can at least say ‘it’s a family name’ if anyone queries it.
I think [name]Blake[/name] is very acceptable as a girl’s name, even if it weren’t a family name. It’s my favourite off your list, as far as girls go. I prefer [name]Collins[/name] to it, but on a girl I prefer [name]Blake[/name] and I’m not sure why. Best of luck~
[name]Blake[/name] is the name of my older cousin (who is a female!) It has always seemed a perfectly fine name for a girl to me and I always viewed it as a girls name. of course, I know that is because the [name]Blake[/name] in my life is female, but that just goes to show you that if you like use it because all of those involved will view it as feminine when you use it on your little girl.
Of those, [name]Cameron[/name] sounds tthe best to me on a girl. I really prefer [name]Blake[/name] on a boy. [name]Reese[/name] and [name]Blake[/name] would be my second and third choices. [name]Don[/name]'t like [name]Collins[/name] and [name]Campbell[/name] on a girl at all.
