We have been discussing [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Blythe[/name] for our second daughter, due in 6 weeks. Unfortunately, husband can’t seem to get on board with [name]Blythe[/name]- he thinks it’s too “old lady”, and the sound reminds him of blah and blight
[name]Blaire[/name] is the other name I really like that he has shot down.
He suggested [name]Blake[/name] for the middle, but because there are two other [name]Caroline[/name]'s in our family he wants to call her by her middle name- [name]Blake[/name], and still have a more feminine option to fall back on. At first I was totally against it, but now it’s growing on me.
What are your thoughts? [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Blake[/name]… [name]Baby[/name] girl [name]Blake[/name]?
I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Blake[/name] for a girl! I like it so much better for a girl than for a boy. I think it’s so soft and sleek sounding at the same time. I like it on it’s own, in the middle spot, or as a nickname for [name]Blakely[/name]. Lots of people think it sounds trendy/trashy but I think it’s a beautiful name for a girl. [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Blake[/name] sounds lovely! I love the mix of a traditional, very feminine name with a newer, edgier middle. Good luck!
Too bad, [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Blythe[/name] was an absolute knockout of a name.
I think I responded in your very first thread, but I was at school with a girl named [name]Blake[/name]. She was very cool; her dad was the trade ambassador to Thailand and always brought all of us children exotic gifts. She had a stable of beautiful horses and was a great equestrienne. In short, anything but trashy.
However, her name gave her a great deal of difficulty. She was always marked down for a boy. When we applied to colleges, she was automatically placed in boy’s dorms. She got angry letters from the US government threatening imprisonment since she didn’t register with the Selective Service at 18. And so on.
What about [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Bryn/name, called “[name]Brynn[/name]?” That sounds younger but still quite rare and dignified.
I dont like [name]Blake[/name] at all. Especially not for a girl. It’s the bla beginning I think. I’m also not fond of boys names on girls. That’s just me, though.
I don’t like it for a girl. (It’s fine as a middle but I wouldn’t like it as the name she goes by.) I do love [name]Caroline[/name], though. [name]Do[/name] you need to call her by her middle? What about [name]Carrie[/name], [name]Cara[/name], [name]Callie[/name], or [name]Carly[/name] as a nn?
I know, really too bad!! My sister hates [name]Blythe[/name] too, I don’t get it, I think it’s lovely!
I’m hoping that with [name]Caroline[/name] as her legal first name she won’t encounter too many gender specific issues. He’s really pulling for [name]Blake[/name], I’m just trying to get over the immediate male association. He knew a beautiful girl named [name]Blake[/name], and I think if I met an adorable little girl [name]Blake[/name] I wouldnt hesitate about the name.
[name]Love[/name] the [name]Bryn[/name] suggestion!
[name]Caroline[/name] [name]Blythe[/name] is so amazing
[name]Blake[/name] is a fantastic name no matter what gender you are. I think it has the same appeal as [name]Quinn[/name] in that way, but [name]Blake[/name] hasn’t been overdone. I really love [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Blake[/name]. It has great flow and an adorable uniqueness. It doesn’t read masculine at all. I think it is a worthy replacement for [name]Blythe[/name].
I like it. Especially in the middle. My true love is [name]Lake[/name] but it’s impossible with my last name. [name]Caroline[/name] [name]Lake[/name] is stunning.
[name]Blake[/name] is sleek & sharp…[name]Blythe[/name] feels softer, but I prefer [name]Blake[/name].
