Blake vs. Blakely

I’m trying to decide on a clear favourite between similar names on my list (either spelling variants of each other or names that share a root - ie; [name_u]Addison[/name_u] v [name_f]Addisyn[/name_f] and [name_f]Tinley[/name_f] v [name_f]Tinsley[/name_f]), so please bear with me while I make a few posts to figure these out!

I adore [name_u]Blakely[/name_u] - it feels so vibrant and bubbly, and I’m a sucker for the -ee sound endings. It’s relatively popular, pretty uncomplicated, and it feels like a good fit for S/O and I, however I do worry that it might be a bit too…something, but I can’t figure out what the something is.

[name_u]Blake[/name_u] however, is sleek and a bit more sophisticated, thanks to [name_u]Blake[/name_u] Lively. I like [name_u]Blake[/name_u], but I don’t quite love it. It does feel just a pinch more accessible than [name_u]Blakely[/name_u], but not enough to heavily sway me one way or the other.

S/O’s surname begins with D and is two syllables, and relatively common. We’re not expecting or anything, but other favourites include [name_u]Hadley[/name_u], [name_f]Gracelyn[/name_f], [name_f]Journee[/name_f], Quinnlyn, [name_f]Tinsley[/name_f] & [name_f]Zoey[/name_f]

Which would you choose, [name_u]Blake[/name_u] or [name_u]Blakely[/name_u]?

The class and simplicity of [name_u]Blake[/name_u] trumps [name_u]Blakely[/name_u]'s trendier sound, in my humble opinion. But if you love [name_u]Blakely[/name_u], use it regardless of what others think. It seems like it’s an important name to you.

[name_u]Blakely[/name_u] - she can always go by [name_u]Blake[/name_u] too

I actually prefer [name_u]Blakely[/name_u]. I enjoy that extra syllable

I think I prefer the sleeker [name_u]Blake[/name_u], but [name_u]Blakely[/name_u] is more feminine - both are good choices!

[name_u]Blakely[/name_u]. That way if you wanted you could still call her [name_u]Blake[/name_u] and have the best of both. [name_u]Blake[/name_u] on it’s own is wonderfully handsome for a boy, but doesn’t really sit right for a girl.
