Blending two very different styles

Help!! [name_f]My[/name_f] SO and I have two very different styles when it comes to girl names. He likes long, feminine, romantic girl names and I like short, spunky and unexpected names. Trying to find a name that encompasses both our likes seems hopeless at this point. I’d love to have a daughter in the future but this back and forth has me wishing for all boys.

Here is a list of our top choices…

His…
[name_f]Leona[/name_f]
[name_f]Lorelei[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]
[name_f]Anabel[/name_f]
[name_f]Celeste[/name_f]
[name_f]Aurora[/name_f]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]
[name_f]Prudence[/name_f]

Mine…
[name_u]Kit[/name_u] / [name_m]Kitt[/name_m] (possibly as a nickname for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f])
[name_f]Alma[/name_f]
[name_u]River[/name_u]
[name_f]Andie[/name_f]
[name_f]Molly[/name_f]
[name_u]Prairie[/name_u]
[name_f]Sidda[/name_f]
[name_u]Percy[/name_u]

It would be much appreciated if you could help us find a name that fits both of our styles. Only other stipulation is that it goes with the last name (sounds like Calvert) and doesn’t clash or sound too similar to our son’s name [name_m]Wiley[/name_m]. I adore the name [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] on a girl, but [name_m]Wiley[/name_m] and [name_m]Wilder[/name_m] would be way to similar.

Thanks in advance!

[name_f]Persephone[/name_f] nn [name_u]Percy[/name_u] or [name_f]Aurora[/name_f] [name_u]Percy[/name_u].

I think [name_f]Elsa[/name_f] is a great compromise- Romantic and feminine but also shorter and spunky. Reminds me of [name_f]Alma[/name_f] on your list. I KNOW Frozen made is more popular but I’ve loved it forever. Maybe [name_f]Lena[/name_f] as well?

Why not choose a long, frilly name with a spunky nick name??

[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] nn. Bex
[name_f]Romilly[/name_f] nn. [name_u]Romy[/name_u]
[name_f]Rosemary[/name_f] nn [name_u]Romy[/name_u]
[name_f]Bronwen[/name_f] nn [name_u]Wren[/name_u]
[name_f]Eloise[/name_f] nn [name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Florence[/name_f] nn [name_f]Flora[/name_f]
[name_f]Jessamine[/name_f] nn [name_f]Jessa[/name_f]
[name_f]Coralie[/name_f] nn [name_f]Cora[/name_f]
Everly nn Ever
Phillipa nn Pipa

Here are some names that might satisfy you both…

[name_f]Greer[/name_f]
[name_f]Fiona[/name_f]
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f]
[name_f]Azura[/name_f]
[name_f]Zara[/name_f]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Lisel[/name_f]
[name_f]Cecily[/name_f]
Sabine
Pascal
Piper

[name_m]How[/name_m] about a long feminine first name with a fun short nickname.
Examples:
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f]—[name_f]Flick[/name_f]
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f]—[name_u]Kit[/name_u]
[name_f]Persephone[/name_f]—[name_u]Percy[/name_u]
[name_f]Vivienne[/name_f]—[name_f]Viv[/name_f]

Hmm… I’ll try feminine, spunky and unexpected:

[name_f]Azura[/name_f]/[name_f]Azure[/name_f]
[name_f]Cicely[/name_f]
[name_f]Isis[/name_f]
[name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_f]Aura[/name_f]
Aulia
[name_f]Katja[/name_f]
[name_f]Senna[/name_f]
[name_f]Annabeth[/name_f]
[name_u]Sierra[/name_u]

Thanks for the suggestions, I’ve been thinking that a long first names with fun, short nicknames is probably going to be the way to go. If we could only find some we can agree on…

I’ve just never really been a fan of having a full formal name and using nicknames. I’ve been a [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] called [name_f]Katie[/name_f] my entire life and I don’t feel any connection to the name [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] what so ever. Mostly I find it a pain. Usually if I prefer the nickname I just go with that and don’t worry about using a formal name. But I guess compromise is all part of being a parent.

I really like his list, and [name_f]Molly[/name_f] from yours! [name_m]How[/name_m] about:

[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Mae[/name_f]
[name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Ada[/name_f]
[name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
[name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]
[name_f]Cordelia[/name_f]
[name_f]Anneliese[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Eliza[/name_f]

It is a good idea to choose long, feminine and romantic name (my favourite! my taste is more like your partner’s I think) and choose a spunky or even boyish nickname to go with in everyday life. On top, you can always give a future baby girl middle name of your preferred style. Because, if you go other way and give her short and spunky unisex name then you obviously wouldn’t be able to give that name a long feminine and romantic nickname!
Another idea is to pick a feminization of typically masculine name like [name_f]Frederica[/name_f] or [name_f]Georgina[/name_f], but I’m not sure if that’s your style… good luck xx

I can see your point.

Actually I really like [name_f]Georgiana[/name_f] but surprisingly my SO doesn’t. And I for sure thought it would be a shoe in to honor his brother, [name_m]George[/name_m], but no.
