Blue Ivy

Hey hope everyone is well  ,recently I’ve been loving the name [name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] like [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f]’s daughter… what does everyone think on how it will age how will other people react if a person who worked in a office name their daughter this… just curious about this name

I think it’s very much a one-person name, personally. It’s nice but I would definitely assume any other young [name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] was named after [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f]’s daughter.

It’s pretty but probably not for normal people lol.

It’s very pretty but I agree with @EagleEyes It seems like a one person name to me too. [name_m]Just[/name_m] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] or [name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_f]Lily[/name_f] sound adorable and wearable imo.

I love it and it’s a really nice name
If you like it you should use it

I think you could use one or the other name but not both together- it feels very tied to one person

Blue or [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (especially [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]!!), sure – but not both.

I think you could get away from people making the [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f] association if you made it so she goes by [name_u]Blue[/name_u] or by [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] day-to-day (rather than the combo) but even then I’m not sure it would feel great growing up knowing your whole name was taken from a celebrity’s child.

whilst I love blue and I love ivy (I think it was a marvellous combo when it was chosen), however now, it’s more a brand name than anything else. if I heard of a young blue ivy, I would immediately think of beyonce’s daughter, ahead of any other associations I might have for blue or for ivy (which are plentiful, since I adore them both). whilst there’s nothing wrong with naming your daughter after a celebrity (or their child), it’s not something I would personally do. I would prefer just blue or just ivy, neither of which bring to mind blue ivy knowles.

Tbh it’s too descriptive for me. I love word names and both names individually. (In fact I think [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] would be adorable.) But [name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] just sounds like a plant to me, then add in it the celebrity connection (and the controversy around [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f] trying to trademark it). It would discourage me from using it.

However if you really loved it I think you could make it work. With girls named [name_u]Juniper[/name_u], [name_u]Aspen[/name_u], [name_f]Meadow[/name_f], (& [name_u]Blue[/name_u]) I don’t think people would consider the name itself too strange. But I do think with the celebrity connection it might raise some eyebrows.

Both names are darling, but I would heavily associate the combo with [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f]’s daughter and I find the combo too descriptive— it sounds like a type of ivy to me.

For me I automatically think [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f] daughter and feel that it is a name that is only wearable for [name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] herself. It’s a pretty name but I think it would be strange for someone aside from [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f] daughter to be called this

It’s a beautiful pair but I personally can’t see it working on a “regular” person. I think majority of people would associate it to Beyoncés daughter. [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] could be a possible pairing you like just as much that I could see working a lot better in the real world, especially if you possibly hyphenated [name_u]Blue[/name_u] with another simple, one syllable name to differentiate the two even more so!

While I do believe that the combo is perfectly wearable for “normal” people (not celebrities/their children), it’s way too tied to [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f]’s daughter for me. Like @rosepip said, there’s nothing specifically wrong with it per se, but I wouldn’t do it myself.

As far as the actual name, I think it’s really, really lovely, although I agree that I find it a little too descriptive.

It’s a pretty fabulous combo! I do tend to prefer word names paired with non-word names rather than two together, but I think it works pretty well here (probably partially just because it’s familiar to me as a name). I have to agree that it’s kind of a one-person name to me, though–the association with [name_f]Beyoncé[/name_f]’s daughter is just so strong.

I think it can be a good starting place for inspiration, but not usable because it is a celebrity name combo (the combo is what really cements it). You wouldn’t want your child to feel forever overshadowed by their celebrity namesake.

I don’t think [name_u]Blue[/name_u] is a one person name, but [name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_f]Ivy[/name_f], definitely. Unless you’re calling them by the first and middle name as a double barrelled name though, who would ever really know their middle name is [name_f]Ivy[/name_f].

Still, I’d think about what you like about [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] (the long ‘I’ beginning, the spunky ‘vee’) and choose another combo e.g.

Blue [name_f]Ayla[/name_f]
[name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_f]Iris[/name_f]
[name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_f]Evie[/name_f]
[name_u]Blue[/name_u] [name_u]Everly[/name_u]

I’d definitely think you’re copying [name_f]Beyonce[/name_f], so I unfortunately don’t find it usable.

Probably too tied to [name_f]Beyonce[/name_f]'s daughter. Here are some possible alternatives!

Instead of [name_u]Blue[/name_u]:
[name_f]Belle[/name_f]
[name_u]Briar[/name_u]
[name_u]Sage[/name_u]
[name_u]True[/name_u]
[name_u]June[/name_u]
[name_f]Bloom[/name_f]
[name_u]Bliss[/name_u]
[name_f]Beth[/name_f]

Instead of [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]:
[name_f]Opal[/name_f]
[name_f]Amy[/name_f]
[name_f]Lily[/name_f]
[name_f]Della[/name_f]
[name_u]Willow[/name_u]
[name_f]Mira[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Vera[/name_f]

Its definitely tied to [name_f]Beyonce[/name_f]. People would think you were copying her if you used it outright but its good for inspiration:)

I am personally not a huge fan. Its too word name for me. I literally picture a blue ivy which bothers me because ivy is green lol. I adore the name [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] in other combinations though. And blue is my favorite color but sadly I dont really like the sound of the word blue so I never think about it as a name.

But can we talk about how pretty [name_f]Beyonce[/name_f]’s name is. [name_f]Beyonce[/name_f] [name_f]Giselle[/name_f]. I just love her name and her sister [name_f]Solange[/name_f]’s.
