Blythe Anne

Ok be honest….does the combo [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] scream [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables?? I love the book series so
I don’t mind the connection, but wondering if it’s a bit too obvious or strange. [name_u]Anne[/name_u] is an honour name, so that won’t change, but I’ve only recently fallen for [name_u]Blythe[/name_u].

What do you think?

I see what you mean…it’s the full name of the main character switched! While there seems to be a fairly high proportion of Nameberry users who are AOGG fans, out there in the world people 1) don’t often hear middle names and also 2) there would be a much lower concentration of avid-enough AOGG readers to pick up on the connection out of context. I think it’s a beautiful combo (and a very positive association) and I can’t imagine the AOGG connection being something that would lead to issues for her—it’s just a question of whether it bugs you or not! I also love the name [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] and find family names important, so i could see myself going for it, if those were THE names for me.

Yes, it does scream [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables - and that’s from someone who hasn’t read the books or watched the show. Still, [name_u]Anne[/name_u] is so familiar and it’s an honour for you, that I don’t think it’s a big deal! It’s a sweet and bright name with strength too

How is it that I never hear the name [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] (except [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] Danner) and now im seeing two posts next to each other both about the name [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]?

Maybe [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Jane[/name_f]? [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] ?

I’m not huge fan but those names could work

It does, but in a nice way! I think its a sweet connection

I immediately thought of it and I haven’t read the books or seen any adaptations (although it’s on my radar as something I know I’ll enjoy when I get round to it :joy:)

I think @LostMargaret is right, it really depends on how much it bothers you. I know that I sometimes notice obscure, unintentional connections between names in a combo and it puts me off, but in this case if it doesn’t bother you, and you love the books, then it’s absolutely fine to use!

I didn’t think of it. [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]!

once you pointed it out, i couldn’t unsee it! however, i think that anne is such a conventional name, especially middle, that not a lot of people would notice. it is a pretty combo, for what it’s worth!

It was definitely my first thought, but as long as you are okay with it, I think it works! I don’t love that both of them are one syllable, but that would just be my preference. Here are some [name_u]Anne[/name_u] variants that might work:

[name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Joanne[/name_f] / [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Joanna[/name_f]
[name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Annette[/name_f]
[name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Anneliese[/name_f] / [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Annelise[/name_f]
[name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Annabelle[/name_f]
[name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Marianne[/name_f]
[name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_f]Leanne[/name_f]

It does (to me—it was definitely my first thought), but I don’t mind a bit! Plus, [name_u]Anne[/name_u] is a relatively common middle name, so it’s not too obvious, really. It’s a lovely name.

I’ve have never seen or read [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gable’s and I still made the connection immediately. I still think it’s ok because [name_u]Anne[/name_u] is such a common name, but maybe spell it [name_f]Ann[/name_f]?

I’m a huge [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables fan and it took me a minute to put them together. I think [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] [name_u]Anne[/name_u] is fine!

[name_u]Ive[/name_u] never read them so I don’t see the conmection
