Blythe...for a boy?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all!

A little backstory: Last night I was talking with my partner and he brought up the name [name_f]Blithe[/name_f] and asked if I liked it. I told him that I liked [name_u]Blythe[/name_u], which he thought was really cool (said he’d even use it as a FN!!). He then asked for my combo (he knows me so well lol), and was surprised when it was a girl’s combo!!
He said that he always has thought of it as a boy’s name, and thinks it would sound great on a boy.

I have never even considered that before so…

I’d love to know opinions! What does everyone think on using [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] for a boy? He’d probably go in the second middle slot, but do you think it would go over well? Is it “masculine” enough? (Not that that is something I really care about, but I’m just curious to hear thoughts!)

Also, what combo of mine would [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] fit into? I’ll give some of my top combos below, feel free to add him in as a second middle / switch around any combos / build your own!!
So excited to see what you come up with

I love [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] for a boy. It is charming and woodsy. That being said, I don’t know if it would fare well realistically. It may be perceived as a girl name. As a middle, though, I suppose it would be brilliant. I do prefer the [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] spelling as [name_f]Blithe[/name_f] reminds me of the word ‘blither’.

Ooh, love the idea of this!! Gives me [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables vibes, works brilliantly as a second middle and the fact your partner always assumed it was for a boy (and that it’s not all so popular) makes it work for me!!

I think these would work:

[name_m]Ferris[/name_m] [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]
[name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]
[name_m]Tennyson[/name_m] [name_u]Leander[/name_u] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]
[name_m]Alastor[/name_m] [name_m]Ferris[/name_m] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]
[name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Meridian[/name_u] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]

I love the idea of [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] as a middle name for a boy! I also think it’s a name that really lends itself to name combinations that flow well.

I especially like:
[name_u]Rosen[/name_u] [name_u]Ira[/name_u] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] (not sure how you feel about three semi-unisex names?)
[name_m]Eben[/name_m] [name_u]Wesley[/name_u] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]
[name_m]Lysander[/name_m] [name_m]Sebastian[/name_m] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]

Thank you so much!! And yes, I totally agree!!

[name_m]Ferris[/name_m] [name_m]Alaric[/name_m] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u], [name_m]Ronan[/name_m] [name_u]Cassidy[/name_u] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] (so cowboy!!), and [name_m]Tennyson[/name_m] [name_u]Leander[/name_u] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] are lovely!! Thank you again :green_heart:

I’m super excited to see this post! I’ve loved [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] on a boy for years, and I just think he’s perfect :sparkles:
I don’t think the name is either masculine or feminine particularly, it really depends on the combo. I did think it was a boys name the first time I heard it, but after I found out about the actress from my mom, I really can see it on either.
I love [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Meridian[/name_u] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]! I think it has such beautiful imagery and sounds :heart_hands:

I love [name_u]Blythe[/name_u]! I think it reads femme to me (because I have a cousin named [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] who is a woman, which plays into it in a big way), but I think it works as a more masculine choice. It’s very [name_u]Anne[/name_u] of [name_u]Green[/name_u] Gables on a boy—which is very charming.

Seconding [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_u]Meridian[/name_u] [name_u]Blythe[/name_u] for your combos because wow. Beauuutiful.

[name_u]Blythe[/name_u] is one of my most favorite name for a girl right now and I’ve only seen it being used on girls before so it feels more feminine to me but I don’t hate it at all for a boy.
