Bodhi, I just don't get it!

I’ve only heard of one child of an atheist called “[name_m]Christian[/name_m]”, I don’t know if you’ve seen the YouTube video. The only other ways I could see an atheist naming their child [name_m]Christian[/name_m] is if A) They are cruel or B) they were Christians at the time the child was born and later became atheists.

It also took me a while to work it out… I was like “Bod-hi”? “Bod-ji”? “Bod-yi”? “[name_u]Bo[/name_u]-dye”? I eventually googled it. Lol.

I can’t see the appeal either, I appreciate the Buddhism reference, but really find the ‘bodh’ sound bothering.

I thought it was odd too when I first met a friend named [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m]. He had an irish twin named [name_f]Felicia[/name_f]. Now it seems normal because my bestie is dating him so I hear his name alot.

I like the name, wouldn’t use it though because I tend to be more conservative when naming an actual child but I don’t judge those that do. I don’t see anything wrong with the name. I’ve heard this complaint about [name_f]Violet[/name_f] also, and I don’t see that either. To each their own. I certainly never thought of it as sounding or looking like body but does have a similar sound to [name_m]Brody[/name_m] I agree so that may be why it’s catching on…plus it has a nice meaning.
