Bodhi opinions and how does it work with our LN

SO and I have a lot of trouble agreeing on names (to sum it up, he likes [name_u]Jayden[/name_u] and [name_f]Ariana[/name_f], and I like [name_m]Apollo[/name_m] and [name_f]Leocadia[/name_f].)

I suggested [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] today, and got “it’s not the worst suggestion you’ve made”, which means he’s at least considering it.

What do you think of [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m], particularly on a non-[name_f]Indian[/name_f] or [name_f]Asian[/name_f] child? (We’re white/Hispanic). I am a practicing Buddhist, if that matters, and that is why I chose this name.

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] or [name_u]Rowan[/name_u]?

Our last name is a one-syllable Irish name that rhymes with the word “Loud”. I know the flow isn’t great, but is it bad enough that it would deter you based only on flow, or you think a non-name-nerd would notice?

Middle suggestions? We’ll probably use a family name, most likely [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_m]Edward[/name_m], but are open to others.

[name_m]How[/name_m] horrifically does it clash with [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]?? Pretty clearly I’m not going for any kind of great stylistically similar sibset, but I’m hoping they sound reasonably decent together.

I know that [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] is of [name_f]Asian[/name_f]/[name_f]Indian[/name_f]/Buddhist origin, but I picture if on a little blonde beach baby. It sounds very bohemian and surfer to me. So I think it would go fine with your last name, heritage, and big sisters name!

I prefer [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] with [name_f]Lillian[/name_f], but [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] is definitley cute!

I like [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] a lot! I love [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], and I think [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] are adorable together, but I also really like the idea of [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m], mismatched though they are. It’s a very modern sibset! I have stayed away from [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m], as I very clearly define as [name_m]Christian[/name_m] and I feel like that’s almost stepping on another religion’s toes. I would love to meet a little [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m], though, and the funky spelling is so cool! I love [name_m]Brody[/name_m] a lot, and I love [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] just as much, but for totally different reasons. If you are a practicing Buddhist, I don’t see why you couldn’t use it. It’s a very cool name. And if your surname is what I think it is, I think [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] sounds perfectly lovely with it!

Good luck!

I much prefer [name_u]Rowan[/name_u], especially with [name_f]Lillian[/name_f]. I love that [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] has religious significance for you, though. I would think that your faith would be much more important than your race when choosing a religious name.

My thoughts as well.

I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m]! It is one of my top 10 names for a boy!
I really like [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].
I am not into names having to match, but I definitely don’t [name_f]Lillian[/name_f] and [name_m]Bodhi[/name_m] sound bad together at all.

I would love to use this name but I don’t think DH would be interested, but I will try. We aren’t [name_f]Asian[/name_f] or [name_f]Indian[/name_f] either, I don’t think you need to be of that culture to use it and/or appreciate its meaning.

Please go with this name! It is just so perfect. (Clearly I’m too in love with this name lol).
