Bonnie Victoria - Spot the problem?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] Berries!

I’ve been considering [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] for quite a while now. I love it for a number of reason and then I came up with [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. [name_f]Vikki[/name_f] was my late aunt’s name, so I figured [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] would be a nice way to honour her, but I am worried if the Gone with the Wind association is too strong. Is it too obvious? Granted [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u]'s real name was [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f]. I was pleasantly surprised when I asked my grandmother how she felt about [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], and she said she really liked it, which made me all fuzzy.

I don’t think many people will spot the GWTW association. It’s not overly obvious, if you were using [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Eugenia[/name_f], I would instantly think of GWTW, but [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is a lovely name, and a great way to honor your aunt. And I don’t think of little [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_u]Blue[/name_u] at all.

I don’t see the GWTW issue. I do however think it’s very ‘o’ heavy, Bonnie Victoria.

[name_f]Victoria[/name_f] means “victory.” You could always honor your aunt with other names meaning victory that don’t have the association and flow much, much better.

[name_m]How[/name_m] about:
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Colette[/name_f]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Nicole[/name_f]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_u]Nicola[/name_u]

According to another site, these also mean victory:
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Elsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Ailsa[/name_f]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Deborah[/name_f]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_u]Jay[/name_u]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Judith[/name_f]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Laura[/name_f]
[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Laurel[/name_f]

I love [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] and like the sound of it. I would use it in a heartbeat. Btw… GwtW never even entered my mind until you mentioned it.

It’s lovely and I would’ve never made the connection. Go for it.

Totally did not get the GWTW connection till you pointed it out. I saw it so long ago I don’t even remember any name but [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f].

[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] sounds like you’re describing [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] as ‘[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f]’ so it is a no from me. Sorry.

I didn’t immediately make the connection and I think it sounds lovely and rolls so beautifully off the tongue. I don’t think it is too ‘o’ heavy either. It has two 'o’s, and I don’t think this is ‘o’ heavy, I think it adds a lovely link between the names. I love that it has special meaning to you as well, and the meaning is gorgeous. Two thumbs up from me :).

I watched GWtW endlessly growing up, and i would never have made the connection. I think [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] is darling, and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] balances it’s fresh, cheerful sweetness with a stronger, weightier, more grown-up feel, with a touch of romance. A lovely combination! Also, the repeated “o” doesn’t bother me a bit. They are not pronounced the same and it adds nice visual continuity.

I would have never made that connection and I don’t think most people will. Although GWTW is a classic, I don’t think people make the name association as much, unless it’s [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] or a boy named [name_u]Ashley[/name_u].

GWTW is my favourite book and movie, so I saw the association almost right away. But given that many people don’t even seem to know who [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] O’[name_f]Hara[/name_f] is (then again I’m not American), I think you’re safe. [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] alone would be just as big a tip-off to those who know the story well, since [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is quite a common name and was only mentioned once in the entire book/movie if I remember correctly.

[name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is a lovely combo. I didn’t make the connection and I do like Gone with the Wind.

I reread the book just this year (didn’t enjoy it…) and wouldn’t have made the connection. If it were [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] nicknamed [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], or [name_f]Eugenie[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f], I’d see it. GWTW isn’t as high in the public consciousness as it once was, so for most people to see a name as overtly GWTW-themed it would have to be, I don’t know, twins called [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] and [name_f]Melanie[/name_f], or a girl called [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_u]Ashley[/name_u].

I think [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is beautiful and very sweet. I am surprised more people don’t go for [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f], it’s a real gem of a name! I see no problem whatsoever with the Os - in fact, the O sound in [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] and [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] is different when I say it anyway.

I would have made the association with GWTW no matter what the middle name was. [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] to me is GWTW. But I love the name. And the fact that it is O-intensive like previous poster said makes it flow better in my opinion. Isn’t that assonance or something? Anyway, I like the combo and good choice picking [name_f]Victoria[/name_f] over [name_f]Vikki[/name_f].

It’s a great combo, [name_f]IMO[/name_f] [name_f]Bonnie[/name_f] <3
