She divorced Dad when I was three and moved to Seattle. Dad raised me on his own in the same townhouse he’s lived in since his bachelor days and never remarried. I don’t see my mom very often, but I know she did remarry a guy with children from a previous marriage.

I am very close to my dad. So, it bothered him that I decided to go across the country to attend college. My dad has cousins who live in New Hampshire and we visited them often while I was growing up.
