Boring?

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name] nn [name]Libby[/name] is what we have finally decided on for LO. DH’s gma was [name]Elizabeth[/name] and mine [name]Frances[/name], both died of cancer and we wanted to honor them. I’m just a little worried the name is too boring but I love the sentiment. Opinions??

Personally I prefer [name]Frances[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], nn [name]Franny[/name]. That said, [name]Elizabeth[/name] has endured for a reason – it’s a beautiful name with a rich history and a plethora of fabulous short forms, of which [name]Libby[/name] is probably my favorite. I’d rather see ten Elizabeths than one [name]Ryleigh[/name] or Madysin.

It’s gorgeous and classic! [name]Libby[/name] is one of the absolute best nicknames as well. Whether it is too boring is really just a matter of your own personal threshhold. But I think it’s great!

You can’t go wrong with [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name]. Two classic names that flow well together! [name]Elizabeth[/name] has endured through the years because it’s a strong but feminine name with tradition and history to back it up. Having a host of nn options doesn’t hurt it either! A name that ages well so I don’t find either of them boring. An added bonus: they honor family members so the tradition continues on with a new generation!

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name] is beautiful name. There are lots of nns available too. [name]Libby[/name] is very cute… Have you considered [name]Effie[/name] (her initials & ie at the end)

I think [name]Elizabeth[/name] is absolutely lovely. Its one of those classic names that will never go out of style.

I love names that are in honor of family members! [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name] nn [name]Libby[/name] is an awesome name, beautiful, classy and timeless. [name]Elizabeth[/name] nn [name]Libby[/name] sounds good for a baby, a young girl, teenager and adult. Great choice!

Thanks  I do love both names and the fact that they are both family names.

I’m worried about the exact same thing because my favourite girls name atm is [name]Elizabeth[/name]. I think [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name] sounds lovely. But I would caution you about the nickname [name]Effie[/name] (assuming you’re in the US). In Australia, that’s not a good nickname, so if she ever comes here she’ll want to go by her full name! (side note: [name]Effie[/name] was the name of a character on an Australian TV show. [name]Every[/name] single person in this country would turn their nost up at that nickname!)

If you want to keep the sentiment, but worry about [name]Elizabeth[/name] being overdone I think the suggestions of [name]Frances[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name] is lovely. There are really cute nn’s for [name]Frances[/name], like [name]Frankie[/name], that would make it an adorable first name option.

I’m Australian and think [name]Effie[/name] is adorable, BTW.

No it’s not boring it’s classic, honoring, and [name]Libby[/name] is so cute and spunky!

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name] “[name]Libby[/name]” is adorable! Not boring at all. I would love to meet a little [name]Libby[/name].

I think [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name] is beautiful! Classic, timeless, and a wonderful reason to call her that. If you think [name]Elizabeth[/name] is too common or boring, have you considered different forms of [name]Elizabeth[/name] and [name]Frances[/name]? Possibly [name]Lisette[/name], [name]Elyse[/name], or [name]Isobel[/name] for [name]Elizabeth[/name], or [name]Francesca[/name], Francette, or Francoise for [name]Frances[/name]? Obviously they’re different, but they’re similar and uncommon?

Still, I think [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name] is adorable and absolutely a great name for your daughter.

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name] is very nice. Like someone posted, I do prefer [name]Frances[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], but out the in real world [name]Frances[/name] may be a heavy name for kid to carry. [name]Libby[/name] in nms, but I like it better than [name]Liz[/name].

I was about to post a similar thread! In fact I probably still will because I have questions specific to my situation. But my main question was about whether [name]Elizabeth[/name] is boring.

Tbh, my naming style is more adventurous but my husband’s is sooo not. [name]Elizabeth[/name] is what we can agree on. We are also considering [name]Frances[/name] as a middle - his grandma! LOL.

I didn’t know how I felt until I saw your post, and then, totally objectively, wanted to yell, Of course it’s not boring!

To me, boring is [name]Madison[/name], [name]Ava[/name], and [name]Sophie[/name]. Boring is trendy. Classic, timeless, feminine, and beautiful can never be boring.

We are tending toward [name]Betty[/name], but I love [name]Libby[/name]!

And for the record, I like [name]Frances[/name] [name]Elizabeth[/name], too, but I believe in putting your best foot forward and making the prettiest name the first name, and to me [name]Elizabeth[/name] is the prettiest.

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name], while very nice, doesn’t wow me. I love these:

[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Willow[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Pearl[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Jasmine[/name]
[name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Winter[/name]

This exactly. Plus, let’s be honest – how many people are really naming their daughter [name]Elizabeth[/name] these days? My son is 18 months old and in our meetings, playdates, mom’s clubs, etc., I haven’t seen one [name]Elizabeth[/name] – not even on the older, school-aged kids. For me [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name], nn [name]Libby[/name] is a breath of fresh air! Gorgeous.

So classic and wonderful. [name]Betsy[/name] is probably my favorite [name]Elizabeth[/name] nickname.

I don’t like the name [name]Frances[/name], BUT I think [name]Elizabeth[/name] [name]Frances[/name] flows very well, especially if you have a two syllable last name. And it’s nice that you’d honor your grandmothers.
