DH and I have settled on [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] is after DH’s dad ([name_m]Charles[/name_m]) and [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is after my late father ([name_m]Giuseppe[/name_m]).
We have made the mistake of sharing the name with my sister, who said she honestly wasn’t a fan. She said it wasn’t a bad name, just not as exciting as the name of our daughter ([name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]).
Sibling names don’t have to be matchy, imo. But it did make us doubt our decision a little bit. What if our boy thinks we didn’t care about nameing him or he developes some sort of name jealousy?
[name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is a fine name but your sister’s observation wasn’t out of place either.
Compared to [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] (which is beautiful), [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] doesn’t pack the same punch.
If that is important to you, I might suggest finding a more interesting variation of [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] to use in the middle. (like for instance, [name_m]Josep[/name_m])
But then again, if it doesn’t really bother you, I don’t think it is a problem. [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] will appreciate the honor bestowed in his name. And I think by itself it is lovely.
Agreed with roseofjune! I think it’s harder to find boys names as stunning as girls too. Are you happy with [name_m]Carlo[/name_m]? That’s what matters most!
Have you thought of [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Giuseppe[/name_m]? I think it fits [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] lovely. While I don’t think [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is boring, I agree with your sister that it feels very dull beside [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f].
We have thought about it, but I don’t really like the idea of giving him my dad’s exact name as a middle. Our boy might be named in honor of him, but I feel like he deserves his own name. If that makes sense
That totally makes sense! I think even [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Josef[/name_m] feels more in line with [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], but ultimately, [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is just fine.
I don’t think it sounds boring compared to [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] (which is very beautiful, by the way). People tend to go with flowery, fanciful, feminine names for their daughters and solid, strong, masculine names for their boys…of course [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] and [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] won’t sound totally the same.
I think [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is a very nice name! [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] is definitely underused and I’m glad to see someone choosing it!
I think [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is a great name! It obviously has a lot of meaning to you, and knowing that he is named after his grandfathers I don’t think your son could think that you didn’t put as much care or thought into his name as his sister’s. I actually really like [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] with [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]. They work nicely together while still feeling distinct from each other, which I love. I would definitely stick with the name.
[name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m] is a fine, even handsome name, but yes, [name_f]Elena[/name_f] [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f] is more exciting. I am a huge fan of both [name_f]Elena[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f], so I just find them so absolutely beautiful together. Then again, if you’re happy with [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] [name_m]Joseph[/name_m], go for it. That’s what matter the most.
I love [name_m]Carlo[/name_m] and think it fits well with your daughter’s name. Maybe just a more exciting middle? I really liked the [name_m]Giuseppe[/name_m] suggestion, it fits perfectly and I think as a middle it isn’t too much that it’s the same name, but that’s just me
