Boudicca spelling/pronounciation?

Which is the favorite? [name_f]Boudicca[/name_f], Boudica, [name_f]Boadicea[/name_f]? Also how do you pronounce it, [name_u]Boo[/name_u]-dih-kah, [name_u]Bo[/name_u]-dih-kah, bow-de-see-ah, [name_m]Bow[/name_m]-de-kay? Also do you like it? Thoughts on the nickname Boo/Bou/Bow/Beau?

I would assume the pronunciation was boo-DEE-kah and the spelling to be Boudica (although my keyboard is trying to correct it to [name_f]Boudicca[/name_f] so that must be the right spelling lol).

I say [name_u]Boo[/name_u]-dih-kah but that might just be my accent.

I say the same!

If your British (like me), I think that’s how most people would say it here. That’s how they said it on Horrible Histories! @LadyMacbethWho

I am British! And I think the national anthem should be the Horrible Histories theme song because everyone knows it!

Definitely, horrible histories is legendary!

I would pronounce it BOO-dih-kuh if I saw it written down. Boudica would be boo-DEE-kuh for me, while [name_f]Boadicea[/name_f] would be bow-dih-SAY-uh. It’s a little harsh for me either way so I’m not sure I have a favorite.

[name_f]Boudicca[/name_f] is BOO-dih-kah for me and my preffered spelling. Boudica is also nice, but [name_f]Boadicea[/name_f] looks like it should be a type of rash in my opinion and would be pronounced bo-DISH-ah.

Also, I once heard somebody read it out loud like the word ‘bodega’, which I’m pretty sure is very wrong :joy:

I’ve seen so many spellings while researching for history papers that I wouldn’t be fazed by any of the variations
