Bowie

Hello

I just came home from a friends son’s 2nd birthday party and there were identical twin girls there named [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f]. I fell in love immediately for [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] for a girl!

Can it work for a girl?

Problem is our surname starts with a B so maybe it’s too matchy?

I can’t say I’m a fan. [name_m]Just[/name_m] because someone else decided it was a good idea, doesn’t mean it actually is, in my opinion.

I should clarify: I just don’t really care for boy names on girls, and [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] sounds chiefly masculine to me.

I agree with [name_f]Larissa[/name_f].

Honestly I would 100% assume [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] were a boy and a girl. [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] is very masculine.

I’m surprised to see [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] and [name_f]Luna[/name_f] for siblings, much less for twin girls. It reads boy to me.

I don’t like [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] for a boy or a girl. I would definitely assume [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] was a boy. I personally don’t like strictly boy names for girls.

Thanks for the feedback guys! It’s always good throwing around ideas.

The first [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] I knew was a girl and that always influences my view but I see it as a girl name. It’s cute but I think it should be a nickname. Maybe [name_f]Isabeau[/name_f] nn [name_m]Bowie[/name_m].

It’s like naming your girl [name_u]Jagger[/name_u], [name_m]Axl[/name_m] or Cobain. I don’t think it works.
If I was named [name_m]Bowie[/name_m], and my sister was called [name_f]Luna[/name_f], I would envy her, I think.

I’ve had a student with the lady name [name_m]Bowie[/name_m], but it’s pronounced [name_u]BOO[/name_u]-ie instead of [name_m]BOW[/name_m]. That could be a problem depending in what area you live.

Designer [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] Minkoff has a daughter called [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] [name_u]Lou[/name_u], so I can definitely picture it on a girl.

I had the combo [name_m]Bowie[/name_m] [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] on my list for a while, until my brother named his daughter [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f].
