  • It’s awesome! : 22 (31%)
  • Meh. : 24 (34%)
  • I’d pick another- that boy will be teased.: 24 (34%)

I think it’s because [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Greyson[/name] are already established names in most people’s conscience - even if you don’t know one yourself, you know the name and it’s familiar, whereas [name]Quillen[/name] isn’t like that at all. I’ve never heard of the name before seeing your post, though I think it fits in well with your other two boys.

Names that sound similar to [name]Quillen[/name] but are a bit more familiar:
[name]Cillian[/name]/[name]Killian[/name] [name]Bear[/name]
[name]Kieran[/name] [name]Bear[/name]
[name]Kyran[/name] [name]Bear[/name] (ky-ran)
[name]Quinton[/name] [name]Bear[/name]
[name]Quincy[/name] [name]Bear[/name]
[name]Quentin[/name] [name]Bear[/name]
Dylan Bear

On a side note, I like the theme you’ve got with the middle names, and while animal names is not my style of naming I think it’s great you honour your Native American heritage in your children’s names.

People are uncomfortable, at least initially, with things that are unusual. [name]Quillen[/name] is just something none of them have heard before so it sounds made-up to them.

Everyone gets teased about their name at some point in their life. It’s not like you are naming him [name]Sue[/name] so he can be toughened up.

The only thing that throws me off about [name]Quillen[/name] [name]Bear[/name] is that it sounds like [name]Quill[/name] and [name]Bear[/name]. [name]Quill[/name] and [name]Bear[/name] sounds like a Native American indie rock band. The other thing I notice is that [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Greyson[/name] are fairly popular, well known names whereas [name]Quillen[/name] is sort of obscure. Most people will never have heard of the name. If it were me, I would go for [name]Quentin[/name] rather than [name]Quillen[/name]. Like [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Greyson[/name], it’s fairly popular and a well known name.

By all means though, if [name]Quillen[/name] is the name you love, go for it!

I love your boys names! I love [name]Quillen[/name] too, as you can see from my signature it’s on my list as [name]Quillon[/name]. I think [name]Quillon[/name] [name]Bear[/name] is a fine name. People will get used to it like the other boys names.

I agree with everyone else though, that’s it’s most likely that [name]Quillen[/name] is a fairly unheard of name so that’s probably why people are having a problem with it. [name]Quentin[/name] [name]Bear[/name] would be cool too and still go with your other boys if you want that.

I think it works great in your sibset, I would’ve thought [name]Bear[/name] was a little much otherwise, but it’s perfect here. I like [name]Quillen[/name]. You should absolutely use it! Congratulations on #3!

I love [name]Quillen[/name] with the nn Quil. But it also makes me think a little of twilight. [name]Quillen[/name] [name]Bear[/name] is nice. If you have a fourth son, will his middle name be [name]Eagle[/name]? Im also curious if you will give your daughters animal names? [name]Dove[/name], [name]Fawn[/name]?

[name]Quillen[/name] [name]Bear[/name] makes me think of a [name]Bear[/name] with Feathers! Keep [name]Bear[/name] in mn spot and find another name for first spot [name]Quentin[/name] would make a good fit - [name]Quentin[/name] [name]Bear[/name], sibset [name]Elliott[/name], [name]Greyson[/name] and [name]Quentin[/name].

Why would he be teased?! I honestly can’t see where that’s coming from. I think [name]Bear[/name] is handsome and works perfectly with [name]Elliot[/name]'s and [name]Greyson[/name]'s MNs, and [name]Quillen[/name] is really handsome. I personally prefer the [name]Quillan[/name] spelling, but I think [name]Quillan[/name] [name]Bear[/name]/[name]Quillen[/name] [name]Bear[/name] would be fabulous! I think it fits right in.

Good luck!

[name]Quillen[/name] kind of throws me off a little bit, but I think I could warm up to it. The first name that came to my mind that you might like is [name]Kellan[/name]/[name]Kellen[/name] [name]Bear[/name]. I don’t think [name]Quillen[/name] fits with [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Greyson[/name] that much, but it’s a nice name nonetheless. [name]Bear[/name] is a handsome middle name!

I like [name]Quentin[/name] [name]Bear[/name] much more than [name]Quillen[/name] [name]Bear[/name]! The sounds are very similar, yet most people are familiar with the name [name]Quentin[/name] via [name]Quentin[/name] [name]Tarantino[/name]. I’d go with that.

Plus, the name [name]Quillen[/name] is a variant of the name [name]Quillan[/name], which is an Irish name for “cub”. To me, it’s too much.

I voted before I actually read the whole of your post and seeing you other boys names I have changed my mind and think [name]Quillen[/name] [name]Bear[/name] sounds quite cool and edgy. My only worry is that it sounds like [name]Quill[/name] and [name]Bear[/name] but I guess that would happen with whatever name [name]Quillen[/name] is paired with. Also, I prefer the spelling [name]Quillan[/name] it just looks right to me (there’s also [name]Quinlan[/name], which I love and [name]Quinlan[/name] [name]Bear[/name] sounds gorgeous too!).

[name]Elliot[/name] [name]Fox[/name], [name]Greyson[/name] [name]Wolf[/name] and [name]Quillan[/name] [name]Bear[/name] sound gerat and I think you should keep it! No one need know his middle name and therefore he will be just [name]Quillan[/name] (nicknames could be [name]Quill[/name], [name]Quinn[/name]).

I think [name]Quillen[/name] sounds perfectly fine, but I like someone else’s suggestion of [name]Kellan[/name]/[name]Kellen[/name]. [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Greyson[/name], and [name]Kellen[/name].

Best of luck!

I really like [name]Quillen[/name], but when you add bear, it just ruins it all for me. [name]How[/name] about a different middle name. I get the theme, but [name]Bear[/name] is not my thing at all.

Hey all! Thanks for all the ideas and advice! I had originally thought [name]Quinlan[/name] would be a cool name- but my husband vetoed it. He didn’t like the ‘n’ in the middle breaking up the flow of the name, and that’s when I found [name]Quillan[/name] (I just like it [name]Quillen[/name]…) and he loved that one. We didn’t really want to go with [name]Quentin[/name]- as it is so popular for the movie maker [name]Tarantino[/name], even though we like his movies. We didn’t want anyone thinking he was named after him.

As for other children’s names- we already have a few picked- and we aren’t ALWAYS doing an animal theme- we have a tree and a stone  I didn’t want to give these up until I had the baby on the way, but we hope to have at least one more boy: [name]Memphis[/name] [name]Oak[/name], and two girls: [name]Juniper[/name] [name]Lynx[/name], and [name]Davy[/name] [name]Jade[/name]. (I’ll probably hear it now!

Thanks again!

Well I love your middle names. [name]Fox[/name] is on my list, as a first name probably, and [name]Wolf[/name] is my brother’s middle name.

I like [name]Bear[/name] too.

I admit to preferring [name]Quentin[/name] (I don’t think its inextricably linked to [name]Tarantino[/name]) or [name]Quinlan[/name] to [name]Quillen[/name]. Have you considered [name]Quade[/name]?

Were you thinking of [name]Quillan[/name] pronounced the traditional way, “Kill-an”? Because that sounds like Killin’ [name]Bear[/name] to me which is a bit difficult.

I really like [name]Quillen[/name]; [name]Bear[/name], not so much. But if you love it and it has meaning to you, go for it. Your family will come around.

I love the animal theme in honor of your heritage, however, not a fan of [name]Quillen[/name]. [name]Quinlan[/name] I could get on board with (I like the potential of nicknames [name]Quinn[/name] or [name]Quill[/name]), but [name]Quillen[/name] just seems so trendy. It seems a drastic change from [name]Elliot[/name] and [name]Greyson[/name] too, as well as having such a similar ending to [name]Grey[/name]…
