Canyonmoon28 thanks. We both liked Harrison (except he doesn’t like Harry) but a close relative named their child that so I suggested Hudson but he said no because it is the name of a restaurant near his parents. This is what I am dealing with lol. I like Emry, Amelia and Juliet but he doesn’t. I really appreciate your suggestions
Silvering thanks. I have listed so so many and just provided my top 3 of each as an idea of names I really love. He has provided Cooper and Mason only, nothing else. Mason is ok but do feel I would just be settling. I want to love my child’s name and feel sure there has to be a name we both love. Cooper I know too many dogs with the name and he said he would never have chosen it if we didn’t have a Brodie - it was more to go with it. He doesn’t even love it himself or Mason but are his only suggestions.
So Remi he dislikes because it sounds French (said no to Remington as would just get called Remi and the electronics brand), said no to Avery because of the office labels, Brooklyn he associates with Beckham’s son which is fair enough - I suggested Brayden but no he didn’t like it. I think Emmett (a bit like your Emery) is cute but he didn’t seem fussed. We both like Charlie for a boy but both hate Charles and Chuck and he thinks it is too plain compared with Brodie. I like Sophie but he doesn’t. Katie is a possibility atm as it would be after his mum but we could be having another boy so I need a first name for each gender we are happy with.
Alix2016 I take on board your point but Brodie is actually unisex and we both preferred the ie spelling most commonly used for girls and didn’t care that it was also a girl’s name. Avery was a good strong boys name (Charlotte’s web) then was adopted for girls in more recent times so is probably deemed more feminine now than back in the day. Remi has always been unisex though Remy was historically more popular for females and Remington definitely isn’t unisex but he didn’t like it.
I have lots of other names I have tried with him but maybe I do have a preference for more “girly” names as I like Darcy and Byron also. I like Myles, Rhys, Bryn, Xavier, River, Theo etc too but no to all from hubby.
He toyed with Logan and Carter then decided he didn’t like them and I didn’t anyway so didn’t care that he went back on his own suggestions.
I was just hoping if enough people made suggestions I could write down all my favourites from them and take them to him and hope we find common ground or it would inspire another name we both like.
We tend to agree on alot of things but as we only had one or two names we liked first time around I knew this would be difficult. I am sure there are so many couples with this problem as naming a child is so important compared with decor choices, film choices etc.
Also he wants it to be a bit less common like Brodie but not off the wall (River and Xavier would be in the off the wall category for him). He said he wants nothing plain like David or Michael etc. He doesn’t want what he calls old man names and gave examples like Jack and George. He didn’t like Albie which I really like even though I don’t like Albert or Bertie.
Thanks for everyone’s help so far. I am collating my faves as people reply
