Boy/Girl Twins Ford and Carson? Does it evoke too much "car" theme?

We are expecting boy/girl twins in 5-6 weeks and haven’t fully settled on names yet, but are leaning strongly towards naming the boy [name]Ford[/name]. That being said, I have always really liked [name]Carson[/name] for a girl, but I am now concerned about the connotations with the car brand “[name]Ford[/name]” and have “Car” in my daughter’s name as well. Does this bother anyone else or am I being too sensitive?

Other girl names under consideration are [name]Ann[/name]-[name]Blair[/name], [name]Hayes[/name], [name]Ellis[/name], [name]Bridget[/name], and [name]Leighton[/name]. I know surnames for girls are controversial on here, but I am in the South and its pretty popular in this area.

Expect for their names to constantly be confused. I took care of siblings named [name]Peyton[/name] & [name]Hayden[/name]. Which one is the girl? And I’d mix up their names all the time and the boy especially hated it. I like a lot of gender benders but I think it’s good for sib names to differentiate gender.

To answer you question, yes I think of a [name]Ford[/name] car. I’d go with [name]Leighton[/name] or [name]Ann[/name]-[name]Blair[/name], although I prefer [name]Blair[/name] or [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Blair[/name]

…and the girl is [name]Peyton[/name]

Definitely too much car theme, and they both sound like boys. I personally would not put the two together.

[name]Ford[/name] and [name]Carly[/name] would be better, or [name]Ford[/name] and [name]Bridget[/name]. [name]Hayes[/name] and [name]Ellis[/name] sound lacking as firsts. [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Blair[/name] or [name]Blair[/name] would be much better, [name]Leighton[/name]'s a good pick but it’s much longer than [name]Ford[/name].

I do like [name]Ford[/name] and [name]Leighton[/name].

I would automatically think you had 2 boys… And the “car” theme somehow reinforces that. I really like the name [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Blair[/name]

[name]Carson[/name] McCullers, if you’re thinking of [name]Carson[/name] as a reference to her, was actually named [name]Lula[/name] ([name]Carson[/name] being her mother’s maiden name). Surnames-on-girls are definitely very popular in the South, but historically they were strictly family names.

All that aside, I think [name]Carson[/name] wold be a poor choice next to [name]Ford[/name] for the obvious reason you listed.

[name]Ford[/name] and [name]Bridget[/name] aren’t bad together. I’d avoid [name]Carson[/name] with [name]Ford[/name] because of the car theme and also because people would constantly think [name]Carson[/name] was a boy.

[name]Carson[/name] & [name]Ford[/name] are cute for twin boys. It just doesn’t work for b/g twins, sorry.

I agree that [name]Carson[/name] and [name]Ford[/name] are too much together. However I love [name]Ann[/name]-[name]Blair[/name]!

I really detest [name]Carson[/name] for a boy or girl. If I heard these names, I would assume you had b/b twins. However, I [name]ADORE[/name] [name]Ann[/name]-[name]Blair[/name]. [name]Hope[/name] you go with that!

I don’t think it is too much of a car theme. Would be much worse if you had chosen [name]Ford[/name] and [name]Mercedes[/name].

However I agree that [name]Carson[/name] sounds like a boy.
Actually I really dislike -son names for girls. [name]Even[/name] [name]Madison[/name] bothers me… I’m weird like that.

I’m sorry, but at first I didn’t know which name you were giving the girl. Maybe use [name]Carson[/name] as a mn. The car theme won’t be as evident with it as a mn. [name]Anne[/name]-[name]Blair[/name] and [name]Bridget[/name] are my favorites.

I agree. I also think the car theme might be a bit much.

I actually like [name]Ford[/name] and [name]Bridget[/name] together! My first thought when I saw your title before you mentioned the car thing was [name]Ford[/name] and [name]Carson[/name] sound nice for twin boys. I don’t know that I would have connected the whole ford/car thing right away, though.

I don’t think of cars but I would think you had two sons. [name]Carson[/name] and [name]Ford[/name] are both very masculine. [name]Ford[/name] and [name]Mercedes[/name] would work if your looking for a car theme (dad’s a mechanic or whatever).

The car theme is a bit to much and I would assume [name]Carson[/name] was a bot, sorry. [name]Ann[/name]-[name]Blair[/name] is nice (though [name]Anna[/name]-[name]Blair[/name] sounds nicer to me) and I think [name]Bridget[/name] and [name]Ford[/name] would be adorable togather. From the sounds of it you don’t actually want to have a ‘car theme’ so I thonk it’s probaly best to steer clear of [name]Carson[/name]. (Pun not intended.)

I really like Ford and Carson for brothers… what about Ford and Delaney or Ford and Harper?
Good luck!

The car theme is definitely there. If I met I would probably ask if you were a [name]Ford[/name] fan.

[name]Carson[/name] for a girl is really tough. It is such a masculine name, almost in line with naming a girl [name]Richard[/name] or [name]Douglas[/name]. [name]Hayes[/name] is nms, but all of your other name options are very nice.

Definitely [name]DON[/name]'T want a car-theme so I really appreciate everyone’s opinions! [name]Carson[/name] is out! My husband really likes [name]Bridget[/name], but I am not totally sold. Tell me why you think it is a great name.

Any thoughts on [name]Hollis[/name] for the girl?

The only [name]Carson[/name] I know is a girl (in her twenties), but [name]Carson[/name] with [name]Ford[/name] definitely gives off a masculine and vehicle theme.

[name]Hollis[/name] also sounds like another boy. [name]Holly[/name] is cute though. I also really like [name]Bridget[/name]!
