Boy name help!

We are completely stuck on what to name our baby if it is a little boy! Our daughter’s name is a surname-name, ending in -or, which was a family name. Id like to stay away from names with similar endings if possible. I love surname names- we just have zero good family surnames left! We both like the name [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], but for some reason I feel odd about using a name that “sounds” trendy- if that makes sense?? Especially since our daughters name is so obviously a surname from our family. I also like:
[name_m]Patton[/name_m]
[name_m]Briggs[/name_m]
[name_u]Tate[/name_u]
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_m]Rhodes[/name_m]
[name_m]Cormac[/name_m]
[name_m]Baron[/name_m]
[name_m]Boden[/name_m]
…but can’t use for various reasons, mostly disagreeing with the hubby  One of our options is [name_u]Rex[/name_u], but still kind of up in the air about it. Any suggestions based on the other names I like would be greatly appreciated! (Middle name will be [name_u]Michael[/name_u])

[name_u]Rex[/name_u] is my top name right now too, full name [name_m]Reginald[/name_m].

I like all the names on your list, [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], [name_m]Cormac[/name_m], [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] and [name_m]Patton[/name_m] in particular. All would go well with [name_u]Michael[/name_u].

Other ideas are…
[name_m]Harrison[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Hank[/name_m]?)
[name_m]Anders[/name_m]
[name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] (nn [name_u]Van[/name_u])
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u]
[name_m]Trenton[/name_m] (nn [name_m]Trent[/name_m])

Since you like [name_m]Cormac[/name_m] and [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]…
[name_m]Declan[/name_m]
[name_m]Killian[/name_m]
[name_m]Breccan[/name_m]

I do like [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] and [name_m]Anders[/name_m] especially! [name_m]Sanders[/name_m] is actually my grandmothers maiden name and I have considered it… [name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Sullivan[/name_u] with [name_u]Van[/name_u] OR [name_u]Sully[/name_u]…I can see it being too “out there” for my husband but it’s worth mentioning

Personally, I think the perfect name for you is [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m]

I love [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m], [name_u]Tate[/name_u], [name_m]Briggs[/name_m], and [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] on your list! Other suggestions…

[name_m]Nash[/name_m]
[name_m]Crosby[/name_m]
[name_m]Piers[/name_m]/[name_m]Pierce[/name_m]
[name_m]Turner[/name_m]
[name_m]Davis[/name_m]

I love [name_u]Rex[/name_u] too! It’s right up there on my list for a boy.

[name_m]Conrad[/name_m]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]
[name_u]Tatum[/name_u]
Rouen
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]
[name_u]Finch[/name_u]
[name_m]Lars[/name_m]
[name_u]Denver[/name_u]
[name_m]Hiram[/name_m]
[name_m]Brooks[/name_m]
[name_m]Wilder[/name_m]

[name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] doesn’t sound trendy to me but I’m Australian where [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]'s been top 100 since the 80’s (currently it’s at 10 in my state) and is the name of our first governor back in the 1700’s.

My favourites from your list is [name_u]Tate[/name_u], [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] and [name_m]Rhodes[/name_m] but I’d consider those trendier then [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m]. I also think [name_m]Brooks[/name_m] would fit in with with your other favourites too.

Yeah, most of those are too trendy for me, which is one of the main reasons I won’t use them! I am just so picky, and when I finally decide on one, we can’t agree on it. I do love [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m], [name_m]Thad[/name_m] a good one to add! Much of the other suggestions are names of children we already know, which is a no-go for me- we live in a small town so it would be odd! If it helps, my girl choices are [name_u]Linden[/name_u], [name_m]Rhett[/name_m], and [name_u]Brett[/name_u].

I never realized [name_m]Lachlan[/name_m] was such an old name! I’m from the southern US so it would totally be a “trendy” name here I’m afraid. I like it even better knowing that it has history. I did love the name [name_u]Landry[/name_u] for a boy but it seems it has gone to the girls…at least in my area.

Also like [name_u]Ellis[/name_u], [name_m]Bennett[/name_m], and [name_m]Nash[/name_m]…we have a [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] in our neighborhood and I know a few little boys named [name_m]Nash[/name_m]. [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] is actually a family name and would totally be my pick (boy or girl) if we didn’t have a friend with a son that name. My other girl (family) name was [name_f]Ivy[/name_f] but we also have a friend whose son goes by [name_f]Ivey[/name_f] (he is a fourth- IV) so that took that away too. Why is this so hard!

Well there you go - [name_m]Ramsey[/name_m] - no one you know has used it and it’s not trendy!

Since your girl has a meaningful family connection to her first maybe you can give some ideas of family you would like to honor with a boys’ name so we can help you find a way to connect the dots?
I.e. You might have a relative [name_u]Michael[/name_u] that is special to you, he is outdoorsy, a policeman -M names? [name_m]Marshall[/name_m]? [name_m]Lawson[/name_m]? [name_u]Rowan[/name_u],[name_u]River[/name_u], [name_u]Brook[/name_u] etc
