Hey y’all. I have always wanted to name my son after my dad. He passed away when I was 10, and I’ve always thought it would be a great way to honor him. His name was [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] [name_m]Charles[/name_m], and I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. Here’s the problem, our surname is Tesh, and [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] Tesh I’m just not sure about. So I’ve settled with having to use his middle name [name_m]Charles[/name_m], but I don’t love [name_m]Charles[/name_m] and I still love [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. I’ve also always wanted to honor my mom, but not a fan of her middle name [name_f]Paulette[/name_f]. So I’ve decided on using [name_m]Paul[/name_m] instead!
So here’s my question! [name_m]How[/name_m] does [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] Tesh sound, with the nickname [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]? He would go by [name_u]Teddy[/name_u], but when said at anything important (school functions, applications, etc.) , it would be [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] Tesh instead of [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] Tesh. My only problem is he would introduce himself as [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] Tesh to friends, people, etc. Thoughts? Opinions? Is it even honoring my dad when his name wasn’t [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]? Thanks y’all!
I think that if he uses [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] through elementary school and beyond, people will be writing [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] Tesh forever. Maybe not on serious certificates but on everything else. [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] Tesh doesn’t sound good to me. What about [name_u]Theo[/name_u] (from [name_m]Theodore[/name_m])? Or [name_m]Eddy[/name_m] ([name_m]Edward[/name_m])? Or [name_m]Bear[/name_m] (in reference to [name_u]Teddy[/name_u])? [name_m]Edward[/name_m] [name_m]Paulino[/name_m] Tesh would be nice.
I think you’d be honoring your father [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] by using either [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] or [name_m]Edward[/name_m].
I have to say I’m not in love with [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] Tesh, but it’s important to note that I’m not a fan of alliteration. Someone else might think it sounds cool!
My suggestions:
[name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Charles[/name_m] or [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] --> [name_u]Theo[/name_u] Tesh
[name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] or [name_m]Charles[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] --> [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] Tesh
[name_m]Paul[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] or [name_m]Paul[/name_m] [name_m]Edward[/name_m] --> [name_m]Paul[/name_m] Tesh
I think [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] Tesh is quite handsome. I will agree there’s a bit of a sound issue with [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] Tesh. It’s not the worst I’ve ever heard, though. He could easily introduce himself as [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] Tesh and just say call me [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] or whatever. I don’t think it’s going to be a big deal if you’re really in love with [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]. Also, I do think it still honors your dad by using [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]. While it might not be his real name, it’s still a variation of it. =]
I love the idea of naming your son [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] and calling him [name_u]Teddy[/name_u]! Very clearly honouring your dad, and avoiding the rhyming/silly sounding [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] Tesh as a given name. I love how your honouring the important people in your life.
I agree , [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_m]Paul[/name_m] Tesh. [name_u]Nick[/name_u] name teddy ! Is in fact houring you Father and still sounds great!
