Boy name ideas

We are 18 weeks pregnant with our 6th child (unknown sex) and we need some ideas for names if it is a boy. We have 4 boys and 1 girl: [name]Bailey[/name] [name]William[/name], [name]Devon[/name] [name]Alexander[/name], [name]Luca[/name] [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Easton[/name] [name]James[/name] & [name]Rowena[/name] [name]Isobel[/name].
We had an almost impossible time naming [name]Easton[/name] and he was almost 24 hours old before we could agree.
We obviously like softer sounding names for our boys (but we want real names, not creative ones) and the middle name will be a family name like all of our children.
Middle name will either be [name]Christopher[/name], [name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Edward[/name].
Names we have considered but had to cross off our list:
[name]Sutton[/name] (our boys name for [name]Rowena[/name], used by my cousin for her daughter)
[name]Rowen[/name] (too close to [name]Rowena[/name])
[name]Avery[/name] (My niece is [name]Ava[/name] [name]Marie[/name], my dh thinks it is too close)
[name]Rhys[/name]/[name]Reese[/name] (we can’t agree on a spelling)

I posted this on another site and got ripped to shreds over my children’s names and someone private messaged me and sent me here!

If you can give me some ideas of names so we can start a list and then narrow it down I would appreciate it!

I’m sorry people were giving you a hard time. It’s one thing to argue against names you’re considering, but another to bash names your children already have.

Your children have lovely names.
[name]Trevor[/name]
[name]Graham[/name]
[name]Dashiell[/name]
[name]Callum[/name]
[name]Heath[/name]
[name]Flynn[/name]
[name]Bennett[/name]
[name]Seth[/name]
[name]Tate[/name]
[name]Connor[/name]
[name]Stellan[/name]
[name]Walker[/name]
[name]Milo[/name]

Oh, wow, I love your children’s names! Especially [name]Bailey[/name], I absolutely adore [name]Bailey[/name] on a boy but I don’t hear it very often.

Personally, I would be all for [name]Avery[/name], it’s another unisex name I love and I think it goes great with [name]Bailey[/name], [name]Devon[/name], [name]Luca[/name], [name]Easton[/name], and [name]Rowena[/name]. I don’t think I would be put off by the fact that he’d have a cousin named [name]Ava[/name]–my dad had a cousin that shared his name, I think [name]Avery[/name] and [name]Ava[/name] are still very usable together for cousins. I really like [name]Rhys[/name], too, and [name]Rhys[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Rhys[/name] [name]Edward[/name] would be very handsome!

If you’re looking for other soft, semi-surnamey options, have you considered:

[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Emmett[/name]
[name]Bennett[/name]
[name]Finley[/name] (although I suppose [name]Everett[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Bennett[/name], and [name]Finley[/name] could all be matchy on some level with [name]Easton[/name] or [name]Bailey[/name])
[name]Grayson[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Vincent[/name]
[name]Zane[/name]
[name]Asher[/name]
[name]Jack[/name]
[name]Brody[/name] ([name]Bailey[/name] and [name]Brody[/name] are probably too close, but I love [name]Brody[/name] for you!)
[name]Spencer[/name]

Good luck!

I love your children’s names, and it’s nice to see these so called unisex names staying with the boys.

I think [name]Avery[/name] would be perfect! I wouldn’t worry about it being close to [name]Ava[/name], they are different enough.

[name]Rhys[/name] is pretty handsome and fits well.

[name]Welcome[/name] to Nameberry, and congratulations on number six! No one should be giving you grief about your children’s names (and I love your username, too.)

Here are some more ideas for a baby boy ([name]Asher[/name] was the first name I thought of for you, and I also chose [name]Spencer[/name], but Ashthedreamer already brilliantly suggested them.) Middle names are listed in the order of my preference for each particular name:

[name]Abbott[/name] [name]Christopher[/name], [name]Edward[/name] or [name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Adrian[/name] [name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Andrew[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] or [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Cabot[/name] [name]Edward[/name], [name]Christopher[/name] or [name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Caelan[/name] [name]Matthew[/name], [name]Edward[/name] or [name]Christopher[/name]
[name]Calix[/name] [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Carbry[/name] [name]Edward[/name], [name]Christopher[/name] or [name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Crispin[/name] [name]Edward[/name] or [name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Colin[/name] [name]Edward[/name] or [name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Haven[/name] [name]Christopher[/name]
[name]Hugh[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] or [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Julian[/name] [name]Edward[/name] or [name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Jubal[/name] [name]Christopher[/name]
[name]Larkin[/name] [name]Christopher[/name], [name]Edward[/name] or [name]Matthew[/name] (may be too similar to [name]Luca[/name])
[name]Mercer[/name] [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Merrill[/name] [name]Christopher[/name]
[name]Percy[/name] [name]Edward[/name], [name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Christopher[/name]
[name]Perrin[/name] [name]Christopher[/name], [name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Quillan[/name] [name]Matthew[/name], [name]Christopher[/name] or [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Salem[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] or [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Saxon[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] or [name]Edward[/name] (may be a bit too “[name]Ivanhoe[/name]” with [name]Rowena[/name])
[name]Selwyn[/name] [name]Christopher[/name], [name]Matthew[/name] or [name]Edward[/name]
[name]Sterling[/name] [name]Edward[/name], [name]Christopher[/name] or [name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Temple[/name] [name]Christopher[/name]
[name]Tierney[/name] [name]Christopher[/name] or [name]Matthew[/name]
[name]Torquil[/name] [name]Edward[/name]

I seem to especially like C names for you, and the previous suggestions of [name]Colby[/name], [name]Callum[/name], [name]Connor[/name] and [name]Conrad[/name] fit that pattern, too.
Best wishes!

Thanks! I like [name]Graham[/name], [name]Callum[/name], [name]Stellan[/name] (but my dh doesn’t like it) & [name]Walker[/name].

I loved [name]Bailey[/name] ever since I heard it on Party of Five. I always said if I had a boy he would be [name]Bailey[/name]. Thank goodness I had a husband that would agree with me  I know that it isn’t well loved for boys, but my [name]Bailey[/name] is now 10 and he has never met another one boy or girl!
Some of the people on the other site were commenting that [name]Bailey[/name] was a girls name (and saying my son will get teased), that [name]Isobel[/name] is a stupid created name (even when I told them it was a Scottish variant and my mom’s name) and that [name]Rowena[/name] was ugly.

I like [name]Asher[/name] and [name]Spencer[/name] a lot!

My niece actually goes by the complete [name]Ava[/name] [name]Marie[/name] so it does sound like you just cut off the Muh sound when saying [name]Avery[/name]. Kind of a bummer because it sounds great imo with the other boys names.

I love softer names on males! My husband is [name]Taylor[/name] and I love it!
I like [name]Grayson[/name], [name]Quinlan[/name] and [name]Ambrose[/name]! I haven’t heard [name]Ambrose[/name] before, I really like it!

I really like [name]Caelan[/name], [name]Haven[/name], [name]Quillan[/name], [name]Saxon[/name] (though the nn [name]Sax[/name] may be too close to sex) & [name]Tierney[/name]

[name]Rowena[/name] [name]Isobel[/name] is just gorgeous! Puts me in mind of the pre-Raphaelites

Anyhow, with [name]Bailey[/name], [name]Devon[/name], [name]Luca[/name], and [name]Easton[/name], have you had a look at the UK lists? Those softly masculine names are very much in style there ([name]Bailey[/name] and [name]Luca[/name] are top-100 boys’ names).

Maybe:

[name]Finlay[/name]/[name]Findlay[/name] (or [name]Fintan[/name]?)
[name]Elliot[/name]
[name]Morgan[/name]
[name]Casey[/name]
[name]Niall[/name]
[name]Dean[/name]
[name]Heath[/name]
[name]Toby[/name]
[name]Callan[/name]
[name]Rafferty[/name]
[name]Lawrence[/name]

I will have to look at that list! Thanks for the tip!
I love [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Morgan[/name], [name]Heath[/name] and [name]Callan[/name]!

I was so excited when my dh said he liked [name]Rowena[/name]! My favorite book as a child was about a spunky girl named [name]Rowena[/name] and I found it again when I was pregnant. [name]Isobel[/name] is my mother’s name.

Aww, that’s too bad that [name]Avery[/name] wouldn’t really work, then. I still think you could get away with it, if [name]Avery[/name] was your top choice, but if you have other options you like more, I agree it’d be best to put it aside.

That’s awful of that site to say, especially since you already used [name]Bailey[/name], [name]Isobel[/name], and [name]Rowena[/name]!

I’m glad to hear your [name]Bailey[/name] hasn’t had any problems, either (or it sounds like he hasn’t, anyway!). I would love to use it one day, but I’m afraid of all the comments that I’ve heard, much like the people on the other site you had been on. :frowning: It seems like most Baileys in real life have little to no problems, though, so I don’t know why people feel the need to be so vehement about it.

Nope, he hasn’t had any problems at all. His nick name is [name]Bay[/name] which is similar to his friends [name]Cayden[/name] ([name]Cay[/name]), [name]Hayden[/name] (Hay) and [name]Caleb[/name] ([name]Cale[/name]).
I think that names are so varied now that nothing is considered odd to children because they have no expectation of what is male or female with naming.
If my son asks, I can show him that [name]Bailey[/name] was at 325 the year he was born, proof that it was a great boys name!

[name]How[/name] about [name]Grady[/name], [name]Emerson[/name] or [name]Campbell[/name]?

[name]Glad[/name] to help, and I’m glad to see you’re getting many good suggestions. You might be right about [name]Sax[/name]. A [name]Saxon[/name] might have to go by his full name to avoid this.

I like [name]Micah[/name], [name]Ezra[/name], and [name]Jonah[/name], these are all softer boy names, but are still all boy. - Sorry if any repeats!

Congrats on #6 and boo to those rude people. [name]Glad[/name] you found nameberry!

[name]Wallace[/name]
[name]Sylvan[/name]
[name]Irving[/name]
[name]Julian[/name]
[name]Francis[/name]
[name]Shepherd[/name]

[name]Micah[/name] and [name]Ezra[/name] are great! Thanks!

[name]Julian[/name] is nice! Thanks!
