[name_m]Adrian[/name_m]: I’ve never seen ‘brave’ as a meaning for [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] before. It means “a man from [name_u]Adria[/name_u].” I love [name_m]Adrian[/name_m] and think it’s a great alternative to [name_u]Aidan[/name_u] which has become overwhelming popular.

[name_u]August[/name_u]: [name_u]August[/name_u] is nice. I think it’s very strong without being overly macho.

Avenger: Big fat nope.

[name_m]Bennett[/name_m]: [name_m]Bennett[/name_m] is fantastic. One thing to consider is that [name_m]Ben[/name_m] is going to be one of the most used boy nicknames for 2017 with all of the [name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]'s, [name_u]Bentley[/name_u]'s, [name_m]Bennett[/name_m]'s, [name_m]Benson[/name_m]'s, etc. being born.

[name_u]Conner[/name_u]: I prefer the [name_m]Connor[/name_m] spelling, but it’s a nice name. It’s a little bit dated but it’s maintained a pretty steady position in the top 1000 for the past 10 years.

[name_m]Donovan[/name_m]: I’m not a fan of [name_m]Donovan[/name_m]. I do like [name_m]Vann[/name_m] as a nickname though.

Downey: All fabric softener to me.

[name_u]Evan[/name_u]: [name_u]Evan[/name_u] is lovely. A nice spin on [name_m]John[/name_m]. Have you considered [name_m]Evander[/name_m]?

Haron: I definitely prefer [name_m]Heron[/name_m]. Which also has a cool meaning of “hero!”

[name_u]Lane[/name_u]: A very gentle name that I really like for a boy.

[name_u]Lee[/name_u]: Not a fan of plain old [name_u]Lee[/name_u]. Definitely prefer something like [name_u]Leland[/name_u], [name_m]Leander[/name_m], [name_m]Leon[/name_m], etc.

[name_m]Pheonix[/name_m]: I’d spell it [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u], and it’s a cool name. One of my favorites as a MN.

[name_u]River[/name_u]: I don’t like [name_u]River[/name_u] as a FN but most name nerds do. It’s just over-the-top nature-esque and the middle name always sounds like the name of the river, i.e. [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u] or [name_u]River[/name_u] [name_u]Michael[/name_u].

[name_m]Spurgeon[/name_m]: Oh god, it was awful when [name_f]Jessa[/name_f] Duggar used this on her baby. This is probably my least favorite surname to first name [name_u]EVER[/name_u].

[name_u]Tatum[/name_u]: A great boy name! [name_u]Tate[/name_u] is a sweet nn.

[name_m]Adrian[/name_m] - [name_u]Love[/name_u] this name. It has such a strong and melodic sound, with a good history of usage as well.
[name_u]August[/name_u] - I’m very lukewarm on this name. I like it on its own, but I’m not a fan of ‘[name_m]Augie[/name_m]’ or ‘[name_u]Gus[/name_u]’
Avenger - Not a fan at all.
[name_m]Bennett[/name_m] - It’s okay. Very gentlemanly.
[name_u]Conner[/name_u] - Normally I don’t complain about popular names, but this is one I’m tired of hearing.
[name_m]Donovan[/name_m] - I like it! It seems substantial and friendly.
Downey - Not a fan. Makes me think of detergent.
[name_u]Evan/name_u - I like [name_u]Evan[/name_u] or [name_m]Evans[/name_m]. It has such a good meaning and history!
[name_m]Geoffrey[/name_m] - It’s okay. Sounds a bit dated to me, but it might come back around (you never know!) and it has a nice meaning, so I guess I like it alright.
Haron - Interesting. I’m unfamiliar with this name, so I can’t judge it much.
Hawking - [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like the ‘ing’ ending. I prefer [name_m]Hawk[/name_m] much more.
[name_u]James[/name_u] - A wonderful classic name. I never tire of the name [name_u]James[/name_u]!
[name_u]Lane[/name_u] - It’s an alright name. As far as one syllable names go, this sounds really fresh. :slight_smile:
[name_u]Lee[/name_u] - It’s good, but sounds less grounded than other one syllable names. Definitely pair with a big middle or last name.
[name_m]Marcus[/name_m] - [name_u]Love[/name_u], love, love this name! It’s so strong and beautiful, yet not common either. One of my favorites on your list!
[name_m]Pheonix[/name_m] - This is okay to me, although it definitely sounds like a hippy name to me. I’d prefer it as a middle name.
[name_u]River[/name_u] - This is a name I just don’t like as much as other people do. It’s okay, but would prefer as a middle name, I guess.
[name_m]Silas[/name_m] - I don’t like it. I just don’t like the ‘[name_u]Si[/name_u]’ part of it.
[name_m]Spurgeon[/name_m] - [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t like it. Sounds heavy and overly modern.

I hate being negative on names, so I just wanted to add that most of the names I don’t like are just simply not my style!

Advise against using [name_u]Lee[/name_u] as a middle name for a boy. Too many criminal types have this as a middle name. [name_m]Just[/name_m] read the newspaper, or look at prison inmate websites and you will be shocked by the number of prisoners with the middle name [name_u]Lee[/name_u].
