Dh and I have been looking through tons of boy and girl names, for our boy/girl twins we’re going to have! We’ve settled on a boy name, and would like to have your guy’s input on it! We’ve decided on: [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] Bisset
[name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is my mother’s mn and also my grandfather’s! My brother’s name is [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], so we thought that [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] would honor him. But it doesn’t really have anything to do with [name_m]Alexander[/name_m], except the X? [name_m]Xander[/name_m] is a good one, but does it flow??
What do you guys think of the name we’ve picked out? [name_m]Feel[/name_m] free to share some suggestions if you’d like! Also comment some girl names you’d think would go with! Last name is Bisset! xoxo
I think spelling it as [name_u]Lee[/name_u] would masculinize it a little bit more. I see [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] being mistaken for a girl’s name on attendance rosters by every substitute teacher he will ever have, but maybe that’s just a regional thing. [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] does come up as an orange colored unisex name on here, after all.
I like [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] for [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. It has the same X sound and also ends in -er, so, between both of those things, I think it’s close enough. Besides, we want our kid’s name to be more or less uniquely theirs and not a conglomeration of throwbacks to the family tree, right?
[name_u]Leigh[/name_u] (or [name_u]Lee[/name_u]) gives me old man vibes, and then the middle names are a combination of more unique and modern. I think reflecting that with the girl’s name would make for a good pair, but reversing it with a trendy or unsual name as a first and putting classics in the middle would probably make the two sound disjointed.
And then you have the issue of having to say these names together a whole awful lot, and having [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] kinda blend into the girl’s name, since it crops up in a lot of other names. Like [name_f]Rose[/name_f], as one example, would maybe come to sound like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f].
I agree with the pp, [name_u]Lee[/name_u] is my preferred spelling of the name for a boy. However, I love the name regardless. [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] is fantastic. Are you by any chance Catholic, with two saint names chosen for your little boy?
I think it’s very handsome. However, I don’t think [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] honors [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] at all. I’m not saying you need to change it but I’d evaluate how important it is to honor your brother. For me, I use middle names to honor loved ones. It’s very important to me to honor those specific people… our middle names have therefore been decided for our kids before their first names. If we find the perfect first name and it doesn’t flow well with the middle, oh well. The significance of the honor middle name is more important than flow for us.
I suspect that since [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is also an honor name, you don’t need to go out of your way to honor [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. But if honoring him is important, I think [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] [name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] is also handsome.
Yeah I know what you’re saying, I took off half of my list because of the [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] thing! We might go with something like [name_f]Camille[/name_f]. Thank you, you’ve helped a lot!
I know three women with the middle name [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], so I’d spell it [name_u]Lee[/name_u].
[name_m]Ambrose[/name_m] is stunning! Quite fancy but since [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]/[name_u]Lee[/name_u] is so simple it works just fine. I like [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] as well. With honor names I think the important part is that you yourself think of it as an honor name, not if others would make the connection right away.
What kind of girl names do you like? Since 2/3 names out of your boy’s name are honor names it’s hard to know what names you actually like.
