We are not finding out the gender but I am trying to narrow down choices for both boy/girl names for the hospital. It is a long process for me so I apologize to keep posting! We have two girls, Mhairi [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] Lilidh. My current ideas right now (that my husband likes as well) are:
[name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] would go by both names. [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] would go by [name_u]Bobby[/name_u]/[name_m]Bob[/name_m]. And [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] would just go by [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. Please let me know what you think~ Thanks!
I like [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] the best, but be prepared to be constantly asked whether you named your son after the author [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u].
1 [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] - [name_m]John[/name_m] gets no love anymore so that’s why I rated him No# 1. It’s a handsome and distinguished combo.
2 [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] - this is No# 2 due to the fact that it would share the same sound at the end of his name like Mhairi. [name_m]Author[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] would share his name.
3 [name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_m]Jack[/name_m] - I love [name_m]Jack[/name_m] but not crazy about [name_m]Robert[/name_m] or [name_u]Bobby[/name_u]/[name_m]Bob[/name_m].
^^^ this!! Me too! I feel awful posting over and over, probably often nearly the same question, but it takes me a looong time to sort all this out. I wish I could be unburdened by the whole thing and just have a name I’ve loved since childhood like friends I know.
good luck! Oh, and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] is my fav:)
Kellihope glad I am not alone. I figure this is a naming site so I am sure it’s to be expected! But I do sometimes feel that I am over posting! But I really struggle w/ finding the perfect name too. It always blows me away when people have their baby named at like 20 weeks and they never waiver. I change my mind a zillion times through preg haha.
Thanks for the feedback! I love [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m] but wouldn’t want it to be shortened to [name_m]John[/name_m] or [name_m]Johnny[/name_m] all the time…which I’m sure might be inevitable. Although where I love, almost every second man is named [name_m]John[/name_m] ___ and never gets shortened so might be ok.
What about [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]? I know it may not have as nice a flow as [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]…but [name_m]Robert[/name_m] is my father, who is still alive. Well, he’s only ever gone by [name_m]Bob[/name_m] or [name_u]Bobby[/name_u] but his proper name is [name_m]Robert[/name_m]. I know he would be so honoured if we used his name in there. [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] and then our last name has two syllables as well. Could this work?
Were you looking for another Gaelic name to go along with Mhairi and Lilidh (both stunning names, by the way)?
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Aengus[/name_m]
[name_m]Robert[/name_m] [name_u]Aidan[/name_u]
[name_m]Alastair[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Ciaran[/name_m]
[name_m]Conan[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u]
Finnean [name_m]Henry[/name_m]
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]Niall[/name_u]
Best of luck!
[name_u]Jem[/name_u], thanks for some ideas. I would’ve liked to use another gaelic name if I found something I love or that was meaningful but haven’t been able to do that. So decided to go w/ more traditional. Some of your combos are really great though! I actually really wanted to use [name_m]Hamish[/name_m] or [name_m]Angus[/name_m] as a first name for a boy but my husband said no way.
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] is lovely with Mhairi and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] but I think [name_m]Henry[/name_m] would ‘fit’ better into the sib-set if he had a Gaelic middle name, just a suggestion.
[name_m]How[/name_m] sad - I adore both [name_m]Angus[/name_m] and [name_m]Hamish[/name_m]!
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] and [name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_m]Robert[/name_m] are both incredibly handsome though. Best of luck!
Sad is the word!! I find it so frustrating to have to compromise on baby names ahha I know it’s only fair and all that…but it’s hard when you have a vision and it just gets squashed. I always wanted all my kids to have the gaelic names…just makes more sense. But just doesn’t seem possible we can find one we both agree on. Whereas, we both do love [name_m]Henry[/name_m], [name_u]Bobby[/name_u] and [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Henry[/name_m]. I will see if I can find a gaelic middle name though…wonder what the gaelic form of [name_m]Robert[/name_m] is? Anyone know?
[name_m]Henry[/name_m] [name_u]James[/name_u] has been one of my favourite combinations for a long time so I’d vote for it but all three combinations are really cool.
