Anyone have any ideas on how we could honour a grandma called [name_f]Gaylene[/name_f] in our son’s name (probably for his middle name)? Her middle name is [name_f]Joy[/name_f]. We have also thought about using her Dad’s name which was [name_m]Cyril[/name_m] but I just don’t think I can get fully on board with it
[name_u]Gale[/name_u] or [name_u]Galen[/name_u] ?
The only other idea that immediately springs to mind is [name_m]Coy[/name_m], as an amalgamation of [name_f]Joy[/name_f] and [name_m]Cyril[/name_m].
From [name_f]Gaylene[/name_f], you could use:
[name_u]Gale[/name_u]
[name_u]Lennie[/name_u]
[name_m]Leno[/name_m]
[name_u]Galyn[/name_u]
[name_m]Galven[/name_m]
If you wanted to include [name_f]Joy[/name_f], you could use…
[name_m]Thane[/name_m] - which means “happy, joyous”
[name_u]Lowen[/name_u] - meaning “joy”
[name_m]Felix[/name_m] - meaning joy or fortunate
[name_u]Asher[/name_u] - meaning happy one, similiar to the meaning of joy
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this is of some help to you
[name_u]Gabriel[/name_u]
[name_m]Gage[/name_m]
[name_u]Galen[/name_u].
[name_u]Jay[/name_u]!
Would you consider using [name_f]Joy[/name_f] as your son’s middle name? I know it’s traditionally been used for girls, but the fact that it’s a word name (with a lovely meaning at that) gives it a lot of gender neutral possibility I think. Especially in the middle spot it seems very usable, and I really do love it for a boy!
You could also do GJ initials: [name_u]Griffin[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u], [name_m]Graham[/name_m] [name_u]Joseph[/name_u], [name_u]Grey[/name_u] [name_u]Julian[/name_u], [name_u]Gabriel[/name_u] [name_u]James[/name_u], [name_m]Grant[/name_m] [name_u]Jameson[/name_u], [name_m]Gideon[/name_m] [name_u]Jules[/name_u], [name_u]Grady[/name_u] [name_u]Jonah[/name_u], etc.
Maybe [name_u]Gene[/name_u] from Gaylene ?
[name_u]Gale[/name_u] or [name_u]Galen[/name_u] absolutely!! [name_m]Felix[/name_m] is also a nice joy nod!
I’d go for something joyful - since both her names have that meaning Maybe [name_m]Isaac[/name_m], [name_m]Felix[/name_m], or [name_m]Caius[/name_m]
Alternatively, some similar in sound/look:
[name_u]Grayson[/name_u]
[name_u]Lennie[/name_u]
[name_m]Allen[/name_m]
[name_u]Grady[/name_u]
[name_u]Gray[/name_u]
Galiant
Jay/Jae
[name_u]Jaylen[/name_u]
[name_u]Glen[/name_u]
[name_u]Gael[/name_u]
[name_u]Lee[/name_u]
I’d use [name_u]Gale[/name_u] as a middle name.
[name_m]Galeno[/name_m]
[name_m]Geno[/name_m]
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Lowen[/name_u]! [name_u]Lennie[/name_u] would go well with our daughter’s name too which is [name_f]Lottie[/name_f].
Thanks for the suggestions
[name_u]Gale[/name_u] or [name_u]Galen[/name_u] would be my first thought. Is her surname usable?
[name_m]Gable[/name_m] would be a good choice I think. Same first letter and same first sound. You can always use something like [name_m]Baylen[/name_m] or [name_u]Jaylen[/name_u], to honor the “aylen” part of the name. As for [name_m]Cyril[/name_m], I know a man named [name_m]Cy[/name_m] - just [name_m]Cy[/name_m] and it works just fine.
[name_m]Gable[/name_m] is cool! How does [name_m]Cy[/name_m] pronounce his name?
Her surname is McIndoe which I’m definitely contemplating as a middle name. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_m]Mac[/name_m]
[name_m]Mac[/name_m] works!
I think to her first name, the most obvious choices to me are [name_u]Galen[/name_u] or Glen/Glenn.
