Boy names are hard!

I’m revamping my lists and would like opinions and suggestions for boy names. I always have the most trouble with boy names as I feel anything not out there is very boring.

Here’s what I have:
[name_m]Ivan[/name_m] [name_m]Lysander[/name_m] [name_u]Poe[/name_u]
[name_u]Ashby[/name_u] [name_m]Donovan[/name_m] [name_u]Bleu[/name_u]
[name_u]Jericho[/name_u] [name_m]Atticus[/name_m] [name_m]Thorne[/name_m]
[name_m]Atlas[/name_m] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] [name_u]Flynn[/name_u]
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m] [name_u]Everett[/name_u] [name_m]Apollo[/name_m]

I love these names, but I’m not set in stone on any of them. Any suggestions and advice is welcomed!

I like:

[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]
[name_m]Ivan[/name_m]
[name_u]Ashby[/name_u]

These are just some names that my DH and I have come up with to possibly use ourselves:

Ackerly
[name_m]Springer[/name_m]
[name_m]Upton[/name_m]
[name_u]Ripley[/name_u]
[name_u]Orion[/name_u]
[name_u]Van[/name_u]
[name_u]Cedar[/name_u]
[name_u]Sutton[/name_u]
[name_m]Ranger[/name_m]

Define ‘out there’? Cause there’s out there, and there’s oooooout there. I tend to really the oooooout there/often made up, if a good middle name and surname can flow with it, but seldom do other people agree. Plus different countries have a different feel for name types as well. Like, a lot of what’s deemed popular here in Australia, is not so much popular in [name_u]America[/name_u] or [name_f]England[/name_f], and vice versa as example.

Well, I guess by “out there” I mean either very low in the top 1000 or not in it at all. In the US you really don’t meet boys very often named [name_m]Ivan[/name_m], [name_u]Ashby[/name_u], [name_u]Jericho[/name_u], or [name_m]Atlas[/name_m]. They aren’t completely unheard of, but they are much more “out there” than [name_m]Jacob[/name_m], [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], [name_u]Michael[/name_u], or [name_u]Noah[/name_u].

I’m not a fan of made-up names. I think that would be considered too out there for my taste.

I definitely like [name_u]Jericho[/name_u] [name_m]Atticus[/name_m]! I think that’s a great combination.
I agree with you that boy names are much harder than girl names. I’m not really sure why; maybe that, like clothing, a wider range of names are acceptable/suitable for girls.
I tend to go more eccentric with the names I like; maybe that’s because I use nameberry more for character names than baby names.
What do you think of [name_m]Naor[/name_m] [name_u]Juneau[/name_u], or [name_u]Juneau[/name_u] [name_m]Naor[/name_m]?
