Boy names harder than girl names?

Either I’m too picky or named out…I haven’t found the “one” that makes you go “Thats it!” Can you guys help me I’m sure this won’t be my last go around.
[name]Do[/name] you guys let popularity scare you away from a name? OR the difficulty in writing the name in regards of flow? Or constant family disagreements? I need help with my style!! I do believe edgy and different works but yet needs to age well.

Here are some of the boy names I’ve loved in the past, but have picked them apart to where I may never settle! Ideas would be great berries!

[name]River[/name]- Family dislikes (This used to be my #1)
[name]Landon[/name]-too popular?
[name]Giovanni[/name]-love love–Family HATES
[name]Bennett[/name]-Family dislike
[name]Maddox[/name]-does it age well family doesn’t care for it?
[name]Ian[/name]- (this is sad, but cursive I kills me! This is extreme picky) But I do love this one…
[name]Kaden[/name]- The “en” sound is huge right now. [name]Love[/name] the meaning. But popular.
[name]Alec[/name]-Stand alone bold and can I love it forever?
[name]Milo[/name]- family dislikes they think pet name
[name]Sebastian[/name]-family dislikes again pet name

I’m desperate

I have a [name]Bennett[/name] and obviously love it! My parents hated it at first, but now love it. We still get complements all the time.

[name]Maddox[/name] is too [name]Angelina[/name] [name]Jolie[/name].
[name]Ian[/name] is cute. I actually like cursive I.

My advice is to pick a name you and husband like. You can’t please everyone. As long as the name is not offensive, go with what you love.

[name]Bennett[/name] is my favorite from your list it is classic, has a literary connection but still sounds current while maintaining a strong ageless feeling! It is in our top!
[name]Alec[/name]- love this works in my opinion for little boy and grown man, sounds strong!
[name]River[/name]- like but may be kind of trendy doesn’t have the classic feel of some of your other picks!
[name]Milo[/name]- cute but not sure how it would work for an adult man
[name]Kaden[/name]- like this one it is a neat name

I like both [name]Maddox[/name] and [name]Landon[/name] but I have a 16 month old dd and she has 3 friends named [name]Maddox[/name] and 4 Landons so they super popular right now…

What about… [name]Colin[/name], [name]Calder[/name], [name]Mason[/name], [name]Greyson[/name] ( nn [name]Grey[/name]), [name]Eli[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], [name]Blake[/name], [name]Barrett[/name]
Best of luck!!!

[name]Bennett[/name] and [name]Sebastian[/name] tie for me. [name]Both[/name] wonderful names!

I do not see [name]Sebastian[/name] as a pet name at all, I know 2 little boys with this name and they rock it! One goes by Sebi (Seh-bee) which I think is so cute!

What does your family dislike about [name]Bennett[/name]?

I’m sorry that you’re feeling stressed about naming your child. I’ve always found naming fun but a lot of people have had the same experience as you. It doesn’t help that your family is giving you grief. I think it’s always best NOT to tell family and friends any of the names you’re considering until after you sign the birth certificate. That way they’ll have to grow to like your child’s name whether it’s their style or not  Here are my thoughts regarding your name list as well as some other options. I hope you’ll find the name that’s “ideal” for your child. All the best, [name]Mischa[/name].

[name]River[/name]- Still strongly associated with the tragic actor [name]River[/name] [name]Phoenix[/name]. It may be better in the middle spot. Alternatives: [name]August[/name], [name]Heath[/name], [name]Jasper[/name], [name]Rowan[/name]
[name]Landon[/name]- No# 32 last year in the US. It may blend in with all of the other popular and trendy names ending in “on”, “en” and "an. Alternatives: [name]Levi[/name], [name]Lennon[/name], [name]Laurence[/name], [name]Wyatt[/name], [name]Tristan[/name], [name]Theron[/name], [name]Roman[/name], [name]Ronan[/name]
[name]Giovanni[/name]- Traditional Italian name. Alternatives: [name]Gianni[/name], [name]Leo[/name], [name]Aldo[/name], [name]Gaetano[/name], [name]Cesare[/name], [name]Dario[/name], [name]Luca[/name], [name]Matteo[/name], [name]Nico[/name], [name]Paolo[/name], [name]Marco[/name], [name]Carlo[/name], [name]Cosimo[/name], [name]Giacomo[/name], [name]Massimo[/name], [name]Dante[/name], [name]Elio[/name], [name]Orlando[/name], [name]Bruno[/name], [name]Alonzo[/name]
[name]Bennett[/name]- [name]Love[/name] this name. It’s a version of [name]Benedict[/name] which I love too! Alternatives: [name]Garrett[/name], [name]Everett[/name], [name]Barrett[/name], [name]Emmett[/name], [name]Barron[/name]
[name]Maddox[/name]- very much a celebrity name a la Brangelina. Alternatives: [name]Mannix[/name], [name]Magnus[/name], [name]Lennox[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]Calix[/name], [name]Rex[/name], [name]Justus[/name], [name]Ludovic[/name], [name]Lucius[/name], [name]Malcolm[/name]
[name]Ian[/name]- Sorry but I’ve always found this name to be a bit wimpy. Maybe because all of the Ians I’ve know have been whiney :frowning: . Alternatives: [name]Ivan[/name], [name]Isaac[/name], [name]Colin[/name], [name]Alastair[/name], [name]Evan[/name], [name]Liam[/name], [name]Esai[/name], [name]Angus[/name], [name]Fergus[/name]. [name]Hamish[/name], [name]Lachlan[/name], [name]Graham[/name]
[name]Kaden[/name]- See [name]Landon[/name].
[name]Alec[/name]- Strong name but I prefer it as a nn for [name]Alexander[/name]. Alternatives: [name]Alastair[/name]/[name]Alister[/name], [name]Lysander[/name], [name]Leander[/name], [name]Evander[/name], Aidric, [name]Alaric[/name], [name]Dominic[/name], [name]Cedric[/name], [name]Reid[/name]/[name]Rhys[/name], [name]Trevor[/name], [name]Pierce[/name], [name]Charles[/name]/[name]Charlie[/name], [name]Gregor[/name], [name]Frank[/name], [name]Will[/name], [name]Walt[/name], [name]Nate[/name], [name]Gus[/name]
[name]Milo[/name]- I love this spunky name and I don’t know any pets named [name]Milo[/name]. It’s a nn for the more serious [name]Miles[/name] which could be another option for you. Alternatives: [name]Arlo[/name], [name]Hugo[/name], Camlo, [name]Otto[/name], [name]Rollo[/name], [name]Ivo[/name], [name]Inigo[/name], [name]Philo[/name], Falco, [name]Ezra[/name], [name]Jonah[/name], [name]Micah[/name]
[name]Sebastian[/name]- OK, so there was a cartoon called “[name]Belle[/name] and [name]Sebastian[/name]” but [name]Belle[/name] was actually the dog in this series! [name]Sebastian[/name] is an ancient name of a saint so I wouldn’t let any other more modern association ruin a great name. Alternatives: [name]Adrian[/name]/[name]Hadrian[/name], [name]Julian[/name], [name]Damian[/name]/[name]Damon[/name], Trajan, [name]Tarquin[/name], [name]Quentin[/name], [name]Auberon[/name], [name]Samson[/name], [name]Anderson[/name]

I just wanted to second all of mischa’s suggestions, they are brilliant. My suggestion is to not let your family’s opinions weigh too much on your decision making. Many times parents and grandparents dislike lots of current names because they are unfamiliar–if you asked them for suggestions they would probably suggest names that were popular when they were naming their babies! Of course your partner needs to select the name with you, but the rest of your family has their own opportunities to name their own children. [name]Don[/name]'t let them dictate what you name yours!

You guys are right about that. I do love all the names I posted but settling with them I just don’t know what I’ll do. [name]Glad[/name] to know I’m not alone. It’s just boy names not girl names.

I’m still not clear on what I want and I may never until it happens that’s saying if I even have a boy! Watch all this hard work and nothing! Thank you all so much for helping/ guiding me.
