Boy names/MN for Boy. Sisters Both Named After Birds

Help!! We are expecting our third child, a boy.
We have two girls whom I call the [name_f]Feather[/name_f] Sisters as they are named [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u].
[name_u]Bird[/name_u] names because birds have been a big part of my life. Meaning I’ve worked or been involved with caring and helping save endangered birds.

We are looking for bird names for a him. So far I love [name_m]Hawk[/name_m], but stuck on a MN for [name_m]Hawk[/name_m].

I have a brother named [name_u]Jay[/name_u] and my mom’s name is [name_u]Robin[/name_u], so those names are out.

And ideas or suggestions are greatly appreciated

I love [name_m]Heron[/name_m]. And Kestrel, though possibly more for a girl. [name_u]Raven[/name_u]. [name_f]Lark[/name_f]. Not so much [name_m]Talon[/name_m]. [name_m]Vireo[/name_m].

[name_m]Hawk[/name_m], [name_f]Lark[/name_f], Owlet, and [name_m]Crow[/name_m]

[name_m]Heron[/name_m]! Or maybe [name_m]Falconer[/name_m]? [name_m]Adler[/name_m], [name_m]Altair[/name_m], [name_m]Gavin[/name_m]

[name_m]Soren[/name_m]. I’m not sure if it’s bird-like, but it certainly sounds like it!

Hmm…There’s [name_u]Phoenix[/name_u] and [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] but both of those are mythological birds. There’s also [name_u]Finch[/name_u] which I think is cute.

[name_f]Lark[/name_f]/[name_u]Larkin[/name_u] ‘Songbird’?

I LOOOOVE the suggestions of [name_u]Finch[/name_u] and [name_u]Larkin[/name_u]! Honestly [name_m]Hawk[/name_m] just sounds so much like, well a bird and not a name for a little person the way that [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u] are.

Cardinal, [name_f]Starling[/name_f], [name_u]Falcon[/name_u], [name_m]Vireo[/name_m] or [name_u]Finch[/name_u] come to mind (all birds). I really like Cardinal, beautiful bird. [name_u]Falcon[/name_u] feels more along the lines of [name_m]Hawk[/name_m] though.
Middle names
[name_m]Hawk[/name_m] Gannett
[name_m]Hawk[/name_m] [name_f]Starling[/name_f]
[name_m]Hawk[/name_m] Corvus (Latin for [name_m]Crow[/name_m])
[name_m]Hawk[/name_m] Wulfram (means wolf raven)
[name_m]Hawk[/name_m] [name_m]Lonan[/name_m] ( Irish name means blackbird)

Good luck, hope I helped.

[name_u]Phoenix[/name_u]
[name_u]Finch[/name_u]
Corvus
[name_m]Heron[/name_m]

I recommend checking out this list by @ceryle:

Congratulations on your upcoming arrival!

Here are my favorites for you (in order of preference), some already suggested:

Peregrine (for Peregrine falcon, could use nicknames Perry or Pippin)

Lonan (sweet Irish blackbird name)

Finch (sounds friendly and brings to mind Atticus Finch)

Gavin (white Hawk. A nice bird meaning and nod to your favorite without being obvious)

Altair (Arabic, falcon; although may sound a bit pretentious)

Heron (potential for endless confusion with Aaron, although offers nickname possibilities of Harry and Ron. Ha!-Just noticed the HP reference there)

Hawk (unfortunately this brings to mind hawking wares, or hacking a loogie, sorry! It may also be confused for Huck. However, if you don’t mind these possibilities, I think Hawk could make a nice addition to Sparrow and Wren)

These are a few obscure bird types which might work as names? Most of them are Australian bird types
Cygnet
Kite
Petrel
Prion
Cormorant
Osprey
[name_m]Heron[/name_m]
Jacana
Rail
Pitta
[name_f]Oriole[/name_f]
[name_u]Winter[/name_u] – the jacky winter is a species of small robin
[name_m]Martin[/name_m] – a few species in the swallow family
Falco - genus name of Falcons

Harrier is an excellent choice. It’s a beautiful bird and a familiar sound (like [name_m]Harry[/name_m] or the rather fashionable revival [name_f]Harriet[/name_f]).

[name_m]Heron[/name_m] is a personal favorite – just like most others on this thread, it seems!

My third favorite for you would be swift! Swifts are a family of really elegant aerial acrobats. They are stunning in flight and have excellent attributes to map to a child. It also feels like a subtle virtue name, less overt than [name_m]Valor[/name_m] or [name_u]True[/name_u], but just as connotatively charged.

Cassowary with nickname [name_u]Cass[/name_u] would be wild!
Rook too has that powerful K and also brings to mind the castle piece in chess.
Kestrel too has a powerful sound, though a little bit more unusual than Rook.

Others:
Condor, Cormorant, [name_u]Finch[/name_u], [name_u]Halcyon[/name_u] (excellent for a girl too), Ibis, [name_f]Oriole[/name_f], Osprey, [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m], [name_f]Starling[/name_f], [name_u]Wren[/name_u].

I love the finch suggestion so much, saint!

I love the suggestions of [name_m]Peregrine[/name_m], [name_m]Heron[/name_m], [name_u]Finch[/name_u], Kestrel, and Swift!

Some I’d like to add:

Dunlin
[name_m]Crane[/name_m]
Tern
[name_u]Teal[/name_u]
[name_u]Gull[/name_u]
Boreal (a type of owl and chickadee)
Murre

[name_m]Hawk[/name_m] is such a cool name too, and it fits well with [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u]. Were you looking for bird related middles for it, or just any kind of middle name?

My boyfriend’s brother’s name is Hawkins, which can be a bit more subtle than [name_m]Hawk[/name_m] ([name_m]Hawk[/name_m] is his nickname actually), and goes well with [name_f]Sparrow[/name_f] and [name_u]Wren[/name_u]!
