Boy Names Taken Over...

What are your favorite boy names that have been taken over by girls?

Mine are:: [name_u]Madison[/name_u], [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u], [name_u]Bailey[/name_u], [name_u]Loren[/name_u], and [name_u]Vivian[/name_u].

[name_u]Addison[/name_u] and [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]

I would still use them in a heart beat. I asked my teenage son and a couple of his friends if it would bother them if their name was [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] and they ran into a female [name_u]Emerson[/name_u]. They agreed that it would not be an issue because, if anyone is to be bothered, it should be the girl, she is the one with a boy’s name.

[name_u]Emerson[/name_u] still feels male to me

[name_u]Addison[/name_u], [name_u]Emerson[/name_u], [name_u]Payton[/name_u]/[name_u]Peyton[/name_u], [name_u]Finley[/name_u], [name_u]Jamie[/name_u], [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_u]Darcy[/name_u] & [name_u]Kendall[/name_u]

None of these have really been taken over in the UK but I hope they stay as either unknown or just boy’s names; [name_u]Addison[/name_u], [name_u]Aubrey[/name_u] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u].

[name_u]Avery[/name_u]
[name_u]Morgan[/name_u]
[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]
[name_u]Meredith[/name_u]
[name_f]Jocelyn[/name_f]
[name_u]Ellery[/name_u]
[name_u]Leighton[/name_u]
[name_u]Aubrey[/name_u]
[name_u]Finley[/name_u]
[name_u]Eden[/name_u]
[name_u]Ellis[/name_u]/[name_u]Ellison[/name_u]
[name_u]Sawyer[/name_u]
[name_u]Charlie[/name_u] (I’m worried about this one. I’ve seen this name on girls in various spellings everywhere)
[name_u]Quinn[/name_u]
[name_u]Elisha[/name_u]
[name_u]Bailey[/name_u]
[name_u]Sidney[/name_u]
[name_u]Remy[/name_u]
[name_u]Rowan[/name_u]
[name_u]Devin[/name_u]
[name_u]Auden[/name_u]
[name_u]Spencer[/name_u]
[name_u]Schuyler[/name_u]
[name_u]Arden[/name_u]
[name_u]Riley[/name_u]/[name_u]Reilly[/name_u]
[name_u]Hadley[/name_u]
[name_f]Greer[/name_f]

[name_u]Sidney[/name_u], [name_u]Harper[/name_u], [name_u]Avery[/name_u], [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], and [name_u]Finlay[/name_u]. Although [name_u]Harper[/name_u] and [name_u]Avery[/name_u] work well on a girl I think, I just wish they didn’t take the names over so much. I’d be fine with it if they shared. [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] and [name_u]Morgan[/name_u] are the only I’d seriously consider as a first name though, if they weren’t so solidly girl. Although I don’t think they’d make the final cut anyway. [name_u]Sidney[/name_u] for sure didn’t, because did ask myself if I’d use it if it weren’t a girls’ name.

Oh, yes, how could I have forgotten; [name_u]Finley[/name_u], [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], and [name_u]Rory[/name_u].

[name_u]Riley[/name_u] and [name_u]Elliott[/name_u] are my two biggest ones. I don’t understand why parents feel the need to use boy names on girls, especially when there are so many beautiful, feminine names waiting to be chosen.

[name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_u]Finley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliott[/name_u], [name_u]Kendall[/name_u], [name_u]Sawyer[/name_u] and [name_u]Cameron[/name_u] are just a few that I could think of. I actually heard my son’s name ([name_u]Reid[/name_u]) on a girl not too long ago and it was a nightmare. I’m hoping it doesn’t become apart of the trend.

[name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_u]Avery[/name_u], [name_u]Cameron[/name_u], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_u]Spencer[/name_u] (this is one of my brother’s names! Not girly at all), [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] (another one of my brothers-again, way too masculine for a girl), [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] (another one of my brothers-seems too plain and masculine for a girl [name_f]IMO[/name_f])[name_u]Shannon[/name_u], [name_u]Quinn[/name_u], [name_u]Rowan[/name_u] (truly unisex but better on a boy I think), [name_u]Charlie[/name_u], [name_u]Devin[/name_u]

[name_u]Finley[/name_u], [name_u]Rory[/name_u], [name_u]Avery[/name_u] and [name_u]August[/name_u]…

I try not to think about these because it angers me!

I hate boys names on girls! [name_m]Just[/name_m] no.

[name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_u]Robin[/name_u], [name_u]Sidney[/name_u], [name_u]Finley[/name_u], [name_u]Elliot[/name_u], [name_u]Leslie[/name_u], [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], [name_u]Clare[/name_u], [name_u]Hilary[/name_u]

I like these names, but [name_u]Robin[/name_u] is probably the only one I like (love) enough to use as a first name. [name_u]Morgan[/name_u], [name_u]Finley[/name_u] and [name_u]Elliot[/name_u] still have strong male associations to me, and I’ve yet to hear more girls than boys with these names in Australia, so here at least I’d say they’re still safely male. [name_u]Leslie[/name_u] (a male family name), [name_u]Clare[/name_u], [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] I would use as middles for a boy. I would love to be able to name my son [name_u]Clare[/name_u] or [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] as firsts, but I wouldn’t subject them to that. [name_u]Clare[/name_u] especially and I don’t like [name_m]Clarence[/name_m] enough to use [name_u]Clare[/name_u] as a nickname.

A lot of the names mentioned here haven’t quite gone over to the female side to me, [name_u]Avery[/name_u] in particular doesn’t seem to be used very much in my circles of friends (both in the UK and Aus) for either male or females. [name_f]Every[/name_f] [name_u]Finley[/name_u]/[name_u]Emerson[/name_u]/[name_u]Leighton[/name_u]/[name_m]Morgon[/name_m]/[name_u]Elliott[/name_u]/[name_u]Rory[/name_u]/[name_u]Spencer[/name_u] are all worn by males. I do know a female [name_u]Madison[/name_u] and [name_u]Hilary[/name_u], [name_u]Madison[/name_u] is named for her mother’s maiden name and [name_u]Hilary[/name_u] to honour her Grandfather.

[name_f]Every[/name_f] female [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]/[name_u]Charley[/name_u] I know use this a nickname for their given name [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]. I know multiple male [name_u]Charlie[/name_u]'s though. Before moving to Australia I only ever knew one female [name_f]Ashleigh[/name_f] who was surrounded by male [name_u]Ashley[/name_u]'s though her school years and I never met a single [name_u]Taylor[/name_u] until moving here too.
