Boys on his way and having some trouble deciding on a name that feels right.
Older sister is [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] ([name_f]Ellie[/name_f]) [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
Hispanic and white parents so feel free to mix it up if something sounds good either way! although mom doesnt want it TOO Hispanic because shes sure a close family member of hers already has it lol.

*one we do like is [name_m]Julian[/name_m] because it is close to my moms name [name_u]Julie[/name_u] (nn [name_m]Jewels[/name_m]), she passed away not long ago and that was the name we would have chose if it was a girl BUT… our friend has a son named [name_m]Julian[/name_m] so im not sure about it. middle name maybe?

I wouldn’t go with [name_m]Julian[/name_m] as first name because it shares four letters with [name_f]Eliana[/name_f].

I like [name_m]Julian[/name_m] for you, and because it is in honour of your mom, I think it is perfectly fine to use. I would tell your friends your intention before the announcement but I would expect them to be fully on-board because of the significance to you and your family. [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] and [name_m]Julian[/name_m] share some of the same letters but they have a different sound. You have a very nice list and the only one I would cross off is [name_m]Eli[/name_m] for the reason you mention

I agree that [name_m]Julian[/name_m] and [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] are different, despite sharing letters. The meaning is very special, I say go for it!

[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is beautiful. I love [name_m]Julian[/name_m], & I think that it’s perfect w/[name_f]Eliana[/name_f]. That’s a bummer that you don’t want to use it because your friends’ did. What if you named him [name_m]Julian[/name_m], but called him [name_u]Jude[/name_u] exclusively? Or I suppose just [name_u]Jude[/name_u] would be good as well, & still honor your mom. Perhaps even [name_m]Julius[/name_m] nn [name_u]Jude[/name_u]?

[name_m]Alexander[/name_m]-This is handsome & works well. It’s just not terribly exciting.

[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]-Same as above.

[name_m]Nicholas[/name_m]-Another vote for handsome but not terribly exciting. Although the nn [name_u]Nico[/name_u] or [name_m]Nicholas[/name_m] ([name_m]Nicolas[/name_m]?) nn [name_u]Nico[/name_u] would be very cool.

[name_m]Lucas[/name_m]-Meh, kind of over done. I can’t get into this one.

[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]-This is nice w/[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] & in general. I’m not a huge fan of [name_m]Dan[/name_m] or [name_u]Danny[/name_u].

[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]-Charming & cute w/[name_f]Ellie[/name_f], but very common if that bothers you.

[name_m]Benjamin[/name_m]-A good solid classic.

[name_m]Eli[/name_m] (but too close to [name_f]Eliana[/name_f])-Yep. Nice name though.

Any other names or opinions that come to mind please post them up! we can use all the advice we can get. [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] felt so easy to decide compared to the boy lol. This is tough!

[name_u]Jules[/name_u] could be an alternative to [name_m]Julian[/name_m], and also echoes your mom’s nickname. I like your name style — one of them we used for our fist boy :slight_smile: A few other ideas (sorry for any repeats):

Looks like the family likes it narrowed down to:

[name_m]Julian[/name_m] [name_m]Isaac[/name_m] is the standout to me! It sounds perfect with [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]. The fact that your friend named her friend the same first name wouldn’t make a difference to me - if anything it could be a special connection that the boys have. Your mother’s name is special to you, and always will be. Not necessarily is every friendship…
