I can’t decide whether this name sounds more masculine or feminine? The name is Everton. If we have a girl, we would do Evertyn [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] or Evertyn [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] for short. For a boy it will be Everton [name_u]Lane[/name_u] or even as the middle name [name_u]Lane[/name_u] Everton. I know you can change the spelling to “look” more feminine, but when you say the name, does it sound more feminine or masculine? Thoughts?
I would probably think boy but wouldn’t be shocked to find out an Everton was female. Definitely not a fan of Evertyn, I think it looks more tacky than it does feminine. Everton [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] is 100% male though since, while Everton could be unisex, [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] is not. I actually wouldn’t be sure about Everton [name_u]Lane[/name_u] because I’ve heard [name_u]Lane[/name_u] used more often as a girl’s middle. I’d go with Everton [name_f]Pearl[/name_f] nn [name_f]Evie[/name_f] for a girl and Everton [name_m]Cooper[/name_m] or [name_u]Lane[/name_u] Everton for a boy.
When I see Everton, I see a boy. In my opinion its all boy. You could use Evertyn for a girl but it looks made up to me. I think Everton would make a great name. I’m not a fan of Evertyn because I don’t like -tyn or -syn ending names like when people change [name_u]Peyton[/name_u] to [name_f]Paityn[/name_f] or [name_u]Emerson[/name_u] to [name_f]Emersyn[/name_f] just to make it ‘feminine’. They just look misspelled to me.
Everton makes me think of the football club. I could see it on either gender, but I would definitely use an obviously feminine middle name for a girl. I agree with pps above, don’t change the spelling to make it look more feminine, it just looks tacky!
I knew somebody who called their daughter Lynken and introduced her to everybody as “[name_m]Lincoln[/name_m], spelt Lynken”
For a boy.
I think it sounds like the name of a town or city. I wouldn’t picture a boy or a girl, I’d just see a town hall, and then when the boy or girl or man or woman walked in, I’d be all distracted wondering if they were born in Everton, and where Everton is, exactly.
If I saw Evertyn in writing first instead of hearing it, I would think it was a “kre8tif” invention of modern naming.
