Hello everyone, it’s me again. Since I last posted a few days ago with our name options for if the baby is a girl, we have been thinking. We have now settled on a boys name, which is [name_m]William[/name_m] [name_u]Kye[/name_u]. However, we really are stuggling to find a girls name. We have quite a few top name choices but they just keep changing. I love them one minute and hate them the other! Our last name begins with an A and is two syllables.
Favourite names so far:
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]: I was so certain that this would be the name but now I’m trying to picture a 40 year old woman called [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and I just can’t… Still absolutely love the name though. Am I overthinking it?
[name_f]Liberty[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]: [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] would be nicknamed [name_f]Libby[/name_f]?
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]: I heard a mom a few days ago call for her daughter [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] and just fell in love! I love the middle name [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and also the middle name [name_f]Mae[/name_f] for this name.
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]: He suggested [name_f]Polly[/name_f], he loves it and I think I do too. But I’m having the same issue as I am with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]…
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f]: We prefer the [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] spelling, but if we do choose this name we may consider spelling it [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] so that she will not have to correct people all her life.
Anyone have any opinions or further suggestions? We don’t really have much of a style, but tend to like names that people hear often and know how to spell, but don’t know loads of people with.
I love most of your combinations! Especially [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] [name_f]Marie[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] is very pretty, however I also can’t picture it on an adult or legal documents. Perhaps [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] or [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] with [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] as nn?
Some suggestions are:
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f] [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] - This way you can have either [name_f]Kate[/name_f], the MN or even [name_f]Katie[/name_f] [name_f]Mae[/name_f] as nn.
[name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] [name_f]Estelle[/name_f]
[name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] [name_f]Claire[/name_f]
[name_f]Imogen[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f]
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
[name_f]Lillian[/name_f] [name_f]Paige[/name_f]
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]
[name_f]Willow[/name_f] [name_f]Grace[/name_f]
I really like your suggestion of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]. The name [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] has always been a favourite but I would never have considered because I only ever thought of it as an old lady name, though I think that having [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as a middle name makes it really pretty.
I absolutely adore [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f]!! [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] has been a long-time fave of mine, and I think [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is such a sweet combo!
My next favorite is [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. I had a professor in college a few years ago named [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], so I can definitely see it on an adult. Plus lots of babies today have “cutesy” names so in the future they may not as seem so childish because it will be common/normal. I wouldn’t worry about it.
Only name I don’t care for is [name_f]Juliette[/name_f] mainly because I struggle to pronounce it (I never know where to put the emphasis - is it JUL-i-ette or [name_u]Juli[/name_u]-i-ETTE?). Best of luck!
[name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] is my favorite of your options, followed by [name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. I also love the suggestion of [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] nn [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] for you. Good luck!
[name_f]Juliette[/name_f], [name_f]Liberty[/name_f], and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] are definitely my favorites from your list, as I’m not really fond of nickname names like [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] and [name_f]Polly[/name_f].
I think [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] is the most unique, and [name_f]Liberty[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] is darling. I would also use the [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] spelling. I like that all three have Ts; I can see [name_f]Liberty[/name_f], [name_f]Juliet[/name_f] and [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] being sisters!
P.S. I really like the idea of using [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] to get to [name_f]Maisie[/name_f]. I would use [name_f]Margaret[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f] or [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] [name_f]Rose[/name_f], but not both. So:
If you like [name_m]William[/name_m] what about [name_f]Willa[/name_f]? [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_u]Kaye[/name_u] or [name_f]Willa[/name_f] [name_f]Kate[/name_f] would be cute though it would cut out [name_m]William[/name_m] if you have a boy in the future.
I really like [name_f]Polly[/name_f] here, although I think I would pair it with [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]:
[name_f]Polly[/name_f] [name_f]Juliet[/name_f]
I actually know a 40-odd year old [name_f]Polly[/name_f] and it definitely works! Although I do agree with you for [name_f]Maisie[/name_f], being in the UK I know of quite a few Maisies who are all under 10 so it feels a very young name for me… but they will all grow up at the same time so in 30 years [name_f]Maisie[/name_f] will likely sound like a 40 year old’s name!
