I am due in mid-January with our first baby & we’re team green I felt pretty much settled on a boy’s name from the start but now I’m not so sure but nothing else seems quite right either. We’re not trying to nail down the name beforehand but I’d like to have a few names ready & then decide once the baby’s here. Any ideas are appreciated!
The middle name will be [name_m]Roger[/name_m] after my husband’s grandpa & our last name is pronounced “ball - stirs”.
Our top 2 so far have been [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] & [name_u]Timothy[/name_u]. I prefer [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] (ma-tee-as) & my husband prefers [name_u]Timothy[/name_u] (NN Timo) but we like both options.
Other names we both like:
[name_m]Isaac[/name_m]
[name_m]Peter[/name_m] (but I don’t like the triple -er endings)
[name_u]Jonah[/name_u] (but it’s too close to my fav girl name Johanna)
Also my husband really likes [name_u]Walter[/name_u] but it basically rhymes with our last name so I vetoed that
If it’s a girl, it’ll probably be [name_f]Johanna[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], or Helen(a), maybe [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] or [name_f]Linnea[/name_f].

The girls names feel equally lovely to me and I really don’t know which one I’d choose so I’m not really much help! Seconding the suggestions of [name_m]Magnus[/name_m], [name_m]Alistair[/name_m], [name_u]Maxwell[/name_u], [name_u]Jacoby[/name_u], and [name_u]Julian[/name_u].
I love [name_u]Timothy[/name_u] nn [name_m]Timo[/name_m], and I think of the options it sounds the best with your last name.
and for the girls names, they’re all good options but I like [name_f]Linnea[/name_f] the best both on its own and with the last name.

I love [name_u]Timothy[/name_u] for you. [name_m]Matthias[/name_m] is great too, but the [name_u]Mat[/name_u]- names are pretty ubiquitous. [name_u]Timothy[/name_u] is a bit dated, but would be so refreshing on a little boy, and [name_m]Timo[/name_m] freshens it right up.
I also like [name_u]Timothy[/name_u] as a brother for a (potential) [name_f]Johanna[/name_f]. I have a [name_f]Johanna[/name_f] of my own - great name! I think those two share a nice style of familiar but not popular for kids born now.
I can’t imagine not calling a [name_u]Timothy[/name_u] by [name_m]Tim[/name_m] or [name_m]Timmy[/name_m] if he went by a nickname. Is [name_m]Timo[/name_m] more common than I realize? I do prefer [name_m]Matthias[/name_m].
Maybe if he likes [name_m]Timo[/name_m] as a nickname then [name_m]Thiago[/name_m] or [name_u]Milo[/name_u] as a full name. [name_u]Or[/name_u] [name_m]Matteo[/name_m] nn [name_m]Teo[/name_m]?
