Boy's name...Odin, Ezra, Mateo...

We are having our second baby in a few weeks, and it’s a boy (we’ve been told). We are having a hard time picking a name. We like unique names but don’t want it to be too strange for a boy. Our dd’s name is [name]Lillia[/name] [name]Selah[/name].

Here are some we are considering:

~[name]Odin[/name] (like the sound of it but it has quite a heavy mythology attached to it, so I think I’ve talked myself out of it. I like [name]Olin[/name] too but a fairly close friend used it).

~[name]Ezra[/name]
~[name]Mateo[/name]
~[name]Isaac[/name] (I like it, but my hubby doesn’t love it - I guess too classic).
~[name]Eli[/name] (hubby likes, I just don’t like it).
~[name]Judah[/name] (hubby likes…I think it has a feminine sound, like [name]Judy[/name]…also read that some people might mix it up with the story behind [name]Judas[/name] and that could be annoying).
~[name]Vincent[/name] (this would be unique…we both sorta like it…but it’s still a little bit old-fashioned).

So I would appreciate your honest feedback and ideas…this is pretty tough! For a girl, as a back up, we like [name]Eden[/name].

I think [name]Lillia[/name] is beautiful!

~[name]Odin[/name]: I can already hear the “odor” jokes, so I’d personally stay away from this one. What about [name]Orion[/name]?

~[name]Ezra[/name]: I absolutely [name]LOVE[/name] this name!

~[name]Mateo[/name]: I think [name]Mateo[/name] is great, too, but I [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Ezra[/name]!

~[name]Isaac[/name] (I like it, but my hubby doesn’t love it - I guess too classic): I like [name]Isaac[/name], too, but not as much as [name]Ezra[/name].

~[name]Eli[/name] (hubby likes, I just don’t like it): I do like [name]Eli[/name], but as a nickname for [name]Elias[/name].

~[name]Judah[/name] (hubby likes…I think it has a feminine sound, like [name]Judy[/name]…also read that some people might mix it up with the story behind [name]Judas[/name] and that could be annoying): [name]Judah[/name] is too feminine for me, too.

~[name]Vincent[/name]: I do like [name]Vincent[/name]…

Others:
[name]August[/name]/[name]Augustin[/name]
[name]Byron[/name]
[name]Clyde[/name]
[name]Colin[/name]
[name]Dashiell[/name]
[name]Dexter[/name]
[name]Everett[/name]
[name]Gideon[/name] (I think [name]Ezra[/name] [name]Gideon[/name] is awesome!)
[name]Hugo[/name]
[name]Ivor[/name]
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Leo[/name]
[name]Milo[/name]
[name]Micah[/name]
[name]Oliver[/name]
[name]Phineas[/name]
[name]Samson[/name]
[name]Solomon[/name]
[name]Silas[/name]
[name]Tobias[/name]
[name]Xavier[/name]

Good luck!

Well, if you have a girl I think [name]Lillia[/name] and [name]Eden[/name] are beautiful together.

I second [name]Jill[/name] on [name]Odin[/name] running the risk of “odor” jokes. Also, the first thing I thought of was [name]Odie[/name]–the dog from [name]Garfield[/name]! What about [name]Orson[/name]?

I do like [name]Ezra[/name] but [name]LOVE[/name] [name]Mateo[/name] (or [name]Matteo[/name]). If you are into meanings, I love that it’s “gift from God.” [name]Mateo[/name] was on our list, but DH vetoed it, claiming it sounded to “ethinic.” I guess he didn’t think an Italian/Spanish name went with our Scottish/irish LN.

I know a female [name]Judah[/name], so that kind of ruins it for me. What about [name]Jude[/name]?

I like [name]Eli[/name] more than [name]Elias[/name] or [name]Elijah[/name].

I like [name]Vincent[/name], sounds very elegant. But I do not like “[name]Vinny[/name].” Guess it depends if you think he’ll get nicknamed.

Good luck!

Here are some we are considering:

~[name]Odin[/name] - like [name]Jill[/name], I love [name]Orion[/name].
~[name]Ezra[/name] - so cute!
~[name]Mateo[/name] - even cuter!
~[name]Isaac[/name] - my favorite on your list.
~[name]Eli[/name] - I like it as a nn for [name]Elias[/name] or [name]Elijah[/name].
~[name]Judah[/name] - I don’t like this name since it does sound too much like [name]Judas[/name] for me.
~[name]Vincent[/name] - love [name]Vincent[/name] almost as much as [name]Isaac[/name].

So I would appreciate your honest feedback and ideas…this is pretty tough! For a girl, as a back up, we like [name]Eden[/name].
[name]Eden[/name] is adorable!

~[name]Odin[/name] – My godchild is about to be born and if a boy he will be [name]Odin[/name]. His parents really like the nickname [name]Odie[/name], and don’t think Odor will be a problem. They also like the idea that he is a god, haha, but they are a little out there. I like [name]Orion[/name]. I also [name]LOVE[/name] the name [name]Oren[/name]…it is a hebrew name that means pine tree, and it feels very dignified.
~[name]Ezra[/name] – [name]Love[/name] [name]Ezra[/name].
~[name]Mateo[/name] – I do like mateo but for some reason it doesn’t jump out as super interesting.
~[name]Isaac[/name] – I like [name]Issac[/name] a lot.
~[name]Eli[/name] – Meh
~[name]Judah[/name]-- Too close to [name]Judas[/name]. What about [name]Jonah[/name]?
~[name]Vincent[/name]–I like vincent.

My favorites of yours are, in order, [name]Ezra[/name], [name]Issac[/name], and [name]Vincent[/name], and [name]Odin[/name]. I also like [name]Oren[/name] and [name]Orion[/name].

So what did you name your son? I have 12 year old daughter named [name]Ezra[/name].

I like [name]Odin[/name] a lot . It doesn’t remind me of Odor but that’s just me. [name]Orion[/name], [name]Oren[/name]/[name]Orran[/name]/[name]Orrin[/name], and [name]Owen[/name] are other O names I like.
Like [name]Odin[/name], [name]Mateo[/name] is on my list for middle names and if my last name didn’t end in an O would probably make it on my first name list as well. I like the possibility of using [name]Matt[/name] as a nickname and even like the spelling [name]Matteo[/name].
[name]Ezra[/name] I think is a good solid name. It’s strong with out being overpowering and soft enough to be carried through a boys younger years in life.
I like [name]Eli[/name] but I think it bares to much similarity to [name]Lillia[/name].
[name]Isaac[/name] is my nephews name but it’s spelled [name]Izaak[/name]. [name]Ike[/name] is a nn for [name]Isaac[/name], not sure if that will help sell your hubby on it or not. I love vowel names!
[name]Judah[/name] and [name]Vincent[/name] sound a bit heavy to me.

[name]Lillia[/name] and [name]Eden[/name] are great pairing!
