[name_m]Hi[/name_m] all,
I am pregnant with my first (a boy!) and think we will call him [name_m]Magnus[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] wondering which spelling might be better for [name_u]Grey[/name_u]? With an a or an e?
We think we might use the nickname [name_m]Mack[/name_m] (found on Nameberry!), although I’ve seen [name_u]Gus[/name_u] too which is cute.
[name_m]Magnus[/name_m] [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is quite handsome! [name_m]Mack[/name_m] is a very sweet nickname as well.
As for the spelling of [name_u]Grey[/name_u]… I think it’s totally personal opinion. I’ve seen it in the middle spot spelled both ways so I think either is acceptable.
[name_u]Gray[/name_u] is the more common spelling in the US whereas [name_u]Grey[/name_u] is more common in the UK, so in order to cut down on misspellings, maybe you could chose the version most common where you live; but my guess is it’ll be misspelled either way, so that may or may not be a good way to decide for you.
In general, I like the [name_u]Grey[/name_u] spelling better, as it looks more appealing to me personally. Definitely a tough decision to make, but ultimately neither spelling looks bad, so I think you’re safe to not put too much thought into it and just pick what feels right for you.
Congratulations on your sweet baby boy! I hope you have a healthy pregnancy and safe delivery.
Thanks so much for your feedback! Good point re: spelling of [name_u]Grey[/name_u]. I think we will use the E rather than the A.
