Hello berries.
After being a long time name fan I am now in a scenario of naming a real life baby!
Our boys name is pretty much set at M@xwell [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] J@mes (surname Ha55ett) although we have toyed with [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] I think we will probably go with [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m].
[name_u]Max[/name_u] is a name we both love, and DH would prefer the longer form [name_m]Maxwell[/name_m] on the birth certificate.
As for the girl name. I have ideas but it is so hard to chose.
At the moment considerations are:
[name_f]Katherine[/name_f] ‘[name_f]Katie[/name_f]’ - my stepmother’s name is [name_f]Kate[/name_f] and as she has no birth children I would like to honour her in some way. I like [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] for a first name but could also use [name_f]Kate[/name_f] as a middle. I like that [name_f]Katherine[/name_f] is declining in popularity.
[name_f]Ivy[/name_f] - this is a name we both like and currently edging it as a front runner. Currently its around the mid 50s in terms of popularity in the UK and appears to be on the rise. I think it could be the next [name_f]Ava[/name_f].
[name_f]Sophie[/name_f] - we both like this name and it was my favourite at one stage until my husband said ‘[name_f]Soph[/name_f]’ in a [name_u]London[/name_u] accent. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like she would get called [name_f]Soph[/name_f]? Really put me off.
[name_f]Isobel[/name_f] - my beloved Grandmothers birth name who has sadly passed away. I always loved this name and spelling but popularly is putting me off. There are so many [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]'s around now. If there weren’t than it would probably be my first choice.
[name_f]Ella[/name_f] - this was the name everyone called my grandmother, her nickname. I think because of this I see it as more of a nickname name, also again, popularity.
[name_f]Alice[/name_f] - another name we both like. The main issue is the way it sounds with our surname Ha55ett with the repeating ‘ss’ sound. It’s worse in a British accent because the ‘T’ sound at the end of Ha55ett tends to get dropped and it sounds quite lispy. Our American family pronounces Ha55ett to rhyme with Cassette which is less of an issue.
Middle names aren’t set in stone but some meaningful names would be [name_f]Angela[/name_f] (or a variation), [name_f]Marilla[/name_f], [name_f]Kate[/name_f], [name_f]Hope[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f], [name_f]Isobel[/name_f].
I would really appreciate any thoughts/ ideas.
Thank you x
