Boys name....too much illiteration?

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone,
Our married name is [name_m]Lynch[/name_m].
We are expecting a baby boy.
We love the name [name_m]Luke[/name_m].
[name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m] is too much illireration?
What are your thoughts on this name?
I see it as a strong name but just slightly concerned about the Ls!

I actually like it. Reminds me of [name_f]Lydia[/name_f] Lunch.

I really like the name [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and I personally don’t think that it’s TOO much. [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m] does sound a bit rhyme-y but I think that it’s still useable. Maybe try to find some other names that you like just as much and if you can’t, I say just go with [name_m]Luke[/name_m]

Some suggestions I have for you are:

[name_m]Jack[/name_m]
[name_u]Noah[/name_u]
[name_m]Daniel[/name_m]
[name_m]Gabriel[/name_m]
[name_u]Jude[/name_u]
[name_u]Finn[/name_u]
[name_m]Asher[/name_m]
[name_m]Oliver[/name_m]

For me, the alliteration of both names sharing the beginning L is fine but being both one syllable names makes it too harsh. If the last name was something like Lougheed or [name_m]Lambert[/name_m], it would be fine but sorry, I don’t think [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m] works.

I agree with the above poster that the two one-syllable names + alliteration makes it feel a little cutesy. Maybe use [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m] and call him [name_m]Luke[/name_m]? The alliteration by itself isn’t too bad.

I know that people tend to have strong preferences on this, but to my ear it sounds fine. I appreciate the appeal of [name_m]Luke[/name_m] and there aren’t a lot of similar choices. I like the suggestions of [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and [name_m]Jack[/name_m] and I would add [name_m]Mark[/name_m], [name_u]Shane[/name_u], [name_m]Zeke[/name_m], [name_m]Adam[/name_m], and [name_m]Zachary[/name_m] nn [name_m]Zach[/name_m].

I agree with PPs that it is a bit cartoony/cutesy. I would go with [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m], but [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m] isn’t undoable.

I like it! It’s alliterative but different enough in sound to work, and I think the two single-syllable names together sound strong, energetic and memorable, especially with the alliteration — like [name_u]James[/name_u] [name_m]Bond[/name_m] or [name_u]Jem[/name_u] [name_u]Finch[/name_u].

I think it works just fine.

I agree with geeknamezyo. I’d go with [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] on the birth certificate, [name_m]Luke[/name_m] as a nickname, and give him a middle name that begins with a different letter than L. First-last alliteration isn’t too bad, but first-middle-last alliteration is almost always too much.

I wouldn’t do it, personally, but I don’t think it’s horrible. I do like [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m] better than [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m], because of the single-syllable repetition, plus the first-letter repetition, plus the K and CH endings sort of mimic each other. I have the same initials, all Bs for first, maiden, and married (no middle). I don’t love repetitive initials, but that’s me.

I think it’s fine, though it is a bit short.

Really doesn’t bother me!

I definitely think [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] or another name would work better, sorry. For me it’s not the alliteration that’s the problem, it’s the way that “[name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m]” sounds when I say it to myself. It comes out sounding like “[name_u]Lou[/name_u] Clench” or “[name_u]Lou[/name_u] Glynch” because [name_m]Luke[/name_m] is too short. Two or more syllables would work better for the first name.

I think it is fine.

I agree with this poster. I think something like [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m] sounds a little softer and you could always nn name him [name_m]Luke[/name_m].

I love alliteration, but don’t love the one syllable-one syllable combination of [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m]. [name_m]Lucas[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m] is better, in my opinion. It’s interesting and memorable.

I too vote for [name_m]Lucas[/name_m], but if you have your heart set on just plain [name_m]Luke[/name_m] a non-‘L’ middle name will knock the alliteration right out.

Good luck!

I’m not a huge fan of alliteration in general, but I know it can work in some cases. Not in this case, though. Sorry.

I agree with a few PPs that it’s the abruptness of [name_m]Luke[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m] that doesn’t work for me. As one PP said, the K and the L kind of merge into each other, so I hear [name_u]Lou[/name_u] Clynch. (Take it from someone whose first name ran into the surname, it’s a pain in the butt and almost no one ever got my name right when hearing it.)

I also say it as [name_m]Luke[/name_m] Lunch because my brain instinctively makes the two vowels match… but that might just be me

Personally I would stay away from names that end in -k or -ck if possible, to avoid the [name_u]Jay[/name_u] Clynch ([name_m]Jake[/name_m] [name_m]Lynch[/name_m]) issue. [name_f]Imo[/name_f] a two- or three-syllable name would work best.

Good luck!

Personally it reminds me of a Dr. Seuss character, however if you like go ahead and use it.
