My wife and I have just found out that she is pregnant with our first child.
[name]Even[/name] before we got to this point, when we have discussed potential names in the past, we have always more easily become enamored with girlsā names than boysā names, to the point that weāre already pretty certain on the two names weāll be choosing from if our little one turns out to be a girl.
Boy names are a completely different story! It seems that weāre both generally harder on boy names, and she may be even harder on them than I am. Complicating things a bit are the fact that, if it is a boy, Iāll want to be continuing a family tradition where a first-born boy inherits their fatherās name as a middle name. So my dadās middle is my grandfatherās first, my middle is my dadās first, etc. ā so any potential first-boy we have will be given the middle name [name]Adrian[/name] (thatās me). This immediately knocks one of the names my wife and I can agree on for a first name, [name]Shea[/name], off of the list because of the repetitive A-sound it would cause. She also likes the name [name]Cameron[/name], but that sounds a bit too rhyme-y with the mn [name]Adrian[/name].
We like the name [name]Charles[/name] (nn [name]Charlie[/name]). We also like the name [name]Shawn[/name] ā I know that the more classic (and possibly ācorrectā) spelling of [name]Sean[/name] is more popular around here, but we both agree on not liking that spelling a whole lot for some reason. I also know that some people say this is the more feminine spelling of the name, but every [name]Shawn[/name] Iāve ever known (save for the gymnast [name]Shawn[/name] [name]Johnson[/name]) was male, so I donāt totally get that. In any case, these are the only two weāve been able to agree should at least be considered. [name]Shawn[/name] appears to be in the lead for her as of right now, though. I also liked the name [name]Jonah[/name], but she considered it ātoo religious-soundingā ā and proceeded to sing some song about [name]Jonah[/name] and the Whale for two minute to make her point.
In any case⦠um, help?
