Boys names for Girls?!

Lots of ppl r using boy names for girls like my parents. I am Brytyn my sis is [name]Austin[/name] my other sis is [name]Jonnie[/name] my Brother is [name]Eli[/name] and then my mom is pregnant with twin girls [name]Sam[/name] and [name]Aydyn[/name]. I absolutly hate this but do you have any thoughts on this??? ANy other names like that? I know theres [name]Tyler[/name] and [name]Hayden[/name].

I infinitely prefer girls’ names for girls and boys’ names for boys. Unisex names like that have been getting more and more popular recently. I can see the appeal of names like [name]Harper[/name], [name]Finley[/name] and [name]Addison[/name], but they seem like cheating the boys to me. Once a name becomes unisex, boys parents drop it like a rock. This is easy to understand as well; no one wants their boy to sound like a girl. If male classics like [name]Andrew[/name] and [name]James[/name] move towards the unisex, then what will the boys be named?

I agree with [name]Christy[/name] - I really think it is unfair on boys to use their names for girls. It is fine if a name has been out of use for boys for centuries, and parents decide to start picking it up for girls ([name]Alice[/name], [name]Evelyn[/name], [name]Vivian[/name] etc.), but otherwise, definitely not. It causes confusion for the child, and narrows down options for boys. As someone who prefers softer boys’ names, I get irritated by names being snatched up for girls which I might otherwise have used.

My best friend named her violin [name]Otis[/name], which I thought was cute, but not until today did I know that [name]Otis[/name] was being used for the violin as if the violin was a girl.

My eyes are bleeding.

I think this is a troll.

[name]Everly[/name], [name]Emerson[/name] & [name]Holden[/name] are also used for girls now.

[name]Everly[/name], yes. [name]Emerson[/name]? No. [name]Holden[/name]? What? I have literally never heard of a girl named [name]Holden[/name].

I know one female [name]Holden[/name]. I was so shocked when I first heard her name!

Not really a fan of boys name for girls, but I do like a few. I like [name]Avery[/name] and [name]Everly[/name]. I really don’t like most of them though. I’ve heard of [name]Spencer[/name], [name]Elliot[/name], and [name]James[/name] on girls. I was shocked when I heard those because they are so masculine.

[name]How[/name] on earth was this resurrected? I really want to understand the phenomenon of commenting on 3+ year old posts as though one expects the OP to still be reading.

If its a troll, at least she stayed in character well. No hyper-literate pregnant 15yo here. She writes exactly as well a you would expect someone named Brytyn to.

I had no idea it was that old – I need to start checking date stamps.
