Boys Names... Opinions Appreciated!

I did a post on the girls side for opinions so now its time to get some opinions on our boys list! We still haven’t told anyone we are pregnant. I will be 12 weeks at the end of the month so we will be doing a big reveal Memorial Weekend when we go to visit family.

We have two children already… [name]Alex[/name]@ndra ([name]Allie[/name]) and Keeg@n… LN is P@rker Our styles for boys and girls names are VERY different.

Here are our boys names so far (in random order)…

[name]Liam[/name]… This is our [name]FAVORITE[/name] name this time around and has been on the list everytime we’ve been pregnant. Keeg@n was my first choice for a boy so we saved [name]Liam[/name] for a future baby but now its in the #6 spot. It was #75 the last time we were naming a baby. On top of it being #6, I assuming there are a bunch of boys named [name]William[/name] who go by [name]Liam[/name], as well!

[name]Lincoln[/name]… Great name. Great nickname. But when I say the full name, all I hear is Linkin [name]Park[/name]. My husband tells me no one will remember them in 15 years. It has also been on the list every pregnancy.

[name]Deacon[/name]… I think this is in our top 3 but when I say Keeg@n and [name]Deacon[/name] together, they almost rhyme. My husband is worried about the religious association. We considered this one with our last child as well.

[name]Lachlan[/name]… Great name! My husband worried people won’t pronounce it like [name]Lock[/name] but more like Lackland. He wants to alter the spelling but I am not on board with that. This has been on the list with every pregnancy as well.

[name]Camden[/name]… My husband is a huge baseball guy and grew up watching Orioles play at [name]Camden[/name] Yards. We mentioned this name when we were pregnant last time and was told about a crappy place in [name]Jersey[/name] that we werent aware of, but it doesnt make us like it any less.

[name]Cullen[/name]… This was in our top three when I was pregnant with my son. My son was born [name]May[/name] 2008 and when I mentioned [name]Cullen[/name], a friend said “like in Twilight?” At the time, I wasnt aware of Twilight and she explained about the books and how the first moving was coming out [name]November[/name] 2008. I did some googling and realized that it had a large following so we decided to put this name on the back burner just in case it exploded due to the exposure from the movie and books. I still really like the name regardless of the Twilight association but I just dont know if I want to deal with people always asking “like in Twilight?” everytime I introduce my baby. lol.

Other names that we liked but have pretty much crossed off the list are
[name]Aidan[/name], [name]Caleb[/name], [name]Declan[/name], [name]Callum[/name], [name]Callan[/name], [name]Landon[/name]

So, which names do you like the best? Which names sound the best with [name]Alex[/name]@ndra and Keeg@n?

[name]Liam[/name] - pretty popular, but it’s a classic name, and it goes well with your other kid’s names.

[name]Lincoln[/name] - honestly, I don’t think Linkin [name]Park[/name] is going anywhere soon. They’ve already been around at least 10 years, and are still making music. However, I wouldn’t associate the name [name]Lincoln[/name] with them, at all. I’d never think of Linkin [name]Park[/name] if I heard the name [name]Lincoln[/name]. I’d think of the president, which is definitely not a bad association, and if you used the nickname [name]Link[/name], I’d think of the character from [name]Zelda[/name]. I think it’s a really nice name as far as surnames for firsts/president names go.

[name]Deacon[/name] - not really my style, but there’s nothing wrong with it. It does sound very similar to [name]Keegan[/name].

[name]Lachlan[/name] - I would pronounce this [name]Lock[/name]-lan, not Lack-lan. I don’t know about everyone else…I wouldn’t change the spelling.

[name]Camden[/name] - I live reasonably close to [name]Camden[/name], NJ, and know people from there…and I STILL don’t think of the town when I hear the name. Unless you live in or very close to [name]Camden[/name], that’s definitely not a reason to not use it, and I think few people will make the association.

[name]Cullen[/name] - I’ve never read or seen twilight, and I still think this is currently unusable because of it.

[name]Aidan[/name], [name]Caleb[/name], [name]Declan[/name], [name]Callum[/name], [name]Callan[/name], [name]Landon[/name] - I like all these names a lot, they go well with your other kids’ names, and are all very classy, strong names, despite current popularity levels…why did you take them off your list?

[name]Liam[/name] – I adore this name and it goes well with your other kids’ names

[name]Lincoln[/name] – I like [name]Lincoln[/name] and the nickname [name]Link[/name]. But it does sound similar to [name]Keegan[/name].

[name]Deacon[/name] – also sounds similar to [name]Keegan[/name], and I’m not a big fan of this name in general. What about [name]Declan[/name]?

[name]Lachlan[/name] – I really like this name, and I can’t imagine anyone pronouncing it Lack-lan.

[name]Camden[/name] – love this name and agree with pp that I would never have thought of [name]Camden[/name], NJ. It isn’t like you’re naming your kid Chicago or [name]Paris[/name]!

[name]Cullen[/name] – agree that Twilight has severely damaged this name. :frowning:

Oh ha! Now I see that [name]Declan[/name] has been eliminated from your list. I really like it for you. I also like [name]Caleb[/name] and [name]Aidan[/name]. Good luck!

I love [name]Liam[/name] too, but if popularity is an issue for you, I would go with [name]Lachlan[/name] or [name]Camden[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are nice and sound well with sibs. [name]Lachlan[/name] probably fits the best, but I do think Americans unfamiliar with the name might say Lack-lan.

(Must add I also love [name]Declan[/name] and [name]Callan[/name] from your crossed off list! Did you consider [name]Desmond[/name] or [name]Fintan[/name]?)

I would say [name]Liam[/name] or [name]Lachlan[/name] go the best with your other children’s names.

[name]Liam[/name]… It is super popular, but if you love it and would regret not using it, use it anyway! It’s my favorite of your names.

[name]Lincoln[/name]… I totally see the Linkin [name]Park[/name] association. It might be the generation I grew up in (they were popular as I was entering middle school/through high school and I still like them - and they are still making music - to this day) but I beg to differ that they’re fading out. I still hear their songs played on the radio somewhat regularly, and they are still touring.

[name]Deacon[/name]… Keeg@n and [name]Deacon[/name] definitely rhyme too much.

[name]Lachlan[/name]… This is my second favorite of your choices.

[name]Camden[/name]… The place in [name]Jersey[/name] is definitely crappy, and I live in a nearby state so that association is pretty strong for me, but I have a distant cousin named [name]Trenton[/name] who’s never had any problems, and [name]Trenton[/name] is supposedly equally crappy. My issue with [name]Camden[/name] is that two celebrities have given their kids this name in the last year, and it’s a little matchy with Keeg@n.

[name]Cullen[/name]… No. Sorry. I like it too, but all anyone will ever think of is Twilight.

[name]Liam[/name] – The populairty is of course an issue, but [name]Keegan[/name] and [name]Liam[/name] sound really great together. I’d use the name you love, even with the popularity.

[name]Lincoln[/name] – Well, I’ll remember Linkin [name]Park[/name] in fifteen years. Continuing to laugh at it, to be honest. [name]Even[/name] without that association this strikes me as SO trendy.

[name]Deacon[/name] – Good name, I don’t like it next to [name]Keegan[/name] though.

[name]Lachlan[/name] – Ditto with [name]Keegan[/name]

[name]Camden[/name] – I actually like this one a lot. I live quite close to [name]Camden[/name], [name]New[/name] [name]Jersey[/name], but even I see name when I see it. [name]Camden[/name] and [name]Keegan[/name] is a little clash-y, but I like it better than [name]Deacon[/name] and [name]Lachlan[/name]

[name]Cullen[/name] – Waaay too on trend for me.

SO, with [name]Alexandra[/name] and [name]Keegan[/name] I like [name]Liam[/name], [name]Camden[/name] and [name]Deacon[/name] in that order.
The only one I REALLY dislike is [name]Lincoln[/name].

[name]Liam[/name] - This is a good name, I like it. It’s popular for a reason. My second Favourite of your name choices and goes very well with you other kids.
[name]Lincoln[/name] - I like this name. I worked with a [name]Lincon[/name] a few years ago and I always thought it was a cool name.
[name]Deacon[/name] - I don’t like it. Mostly because of the religous assocation, it’s an odd name choice.
[name]Lachlan[/name] -I looove this name, it was one of my favourite choices when naming our second baby a few months ago, but we had a girl. I think it goes great with your other kids names
[name]Camden[/name] - I don’t mind this name, no real wow factor though. Like other posters have said it’ not a a very good fit with keegan.
[name]Cullen[/name] - I don’t like this name. Not because of Twilight, I just don’t like the sound of it.

Thanks everyone! It has been really helpful to get some feedback. I noticed that almost everyone liked [name]Liam[/name] and everyone disliked [name]Cullen[/name]! The opinions on the others were pretty varied but I think we are going to cross [name]Cullen[/name] off, I had hesitations about the Twilight connection and I think I like some of the other names better!

The reason we crossed off the names [name]Aidan[/name], [name]Caleb[/name], [name]Declan[/name], [name]Callan[/name], [name]Landon[/name] are because other people we are close to have used them recently. [name]Declan[/name] might still be on the table. My best friend is pregnant and due before me so if she has a girl or goes with something else, we can add it back to the list but I dont want to decide its the one and then she uses it two months before I am due and I have to find something else. She will probably definitely use it, she fell in love with it when we mentioned it as one of the names we liked when we were pregnant with our last and that was five years ago and shes been saying she was going to use it ever since.

I love [name]Liam[/name], [name]Lachlan[/name] and [name]Cullen[/name]. I actually really like [name]Cullen[/name], I don’t think its too strongly linked to Twilight at all.

I love [name]Deacon[/name]. I don’t see the problem with having a religious association to a name…unless you’re atheist. A lot of names come from the Bible and people rarely even think of it.

After reading your explanations I vote for [name]Liam[/name] or [name]Lachlan[/name]
