Boys names...why so difficult?!

I find boys names really hard. I find girls names so much easier and have quite a particular personal taste. Boys were always going to be [name]James[/name] or [name]Alexander[/name]…however these names are my OH brothers names and I really wouldn’t want the man to think we’d named a child after him. It would NEVER happen.

I loved [name]Jasper[/name],but OH says it’s slang for wasps in Southern [name]England[/name]. Being Welsh,I wouldn’t know!

Anyway,these are names I like:
[name]Jasper[/name]
[name]Flynn[/name]
[name]Stellan[/name]
[name]Aneurin[/name]
[name]Torrin[/name]
[name]Rafe[/name]
[name]Jago[/name]
[name]Henry[/name]
[name]Leander[/name] (not sure how good it sounds with my accent though)
[name]Arthur[/name]
[name]Horatio[/name]

Can anyone suggest any others? I like girls names like [name]Hermione[/name] i.e very feminine and suppose I like boys names that sound fairly masculine (to my ear anyway)

I think you have some REALLY nice options here! Personally, I relly enjoy [name]Jasper[/name]. I almost chose him for the name of one of my book characters, actually. [name]Jago[/name] is great too - [name]Django[/name] is a name that comes quickly to my mind after [name]Jago[/name]. Also [name]Remy[/name].

[name]Rafe[/name] is cool. Sounds [name]James[/name] [name]Dean[/name]-ish to me.

What about: [name]Brennan[/name], [name]Kellan[/name], [name]Digby[/name], [name]Archer[/name], [name]Finnegan[/name], or [name]Rodrigo[/name]?

I’m the total opposite! Boy names have always been very easy for me and I struggle with girls!

It’s a shame about [name]James[/name] and [name]Alexander[/name] as they’re lovely but I think [name]Jasper[/name] is still usable. I’m from the south of [name]England[/name] and I’d say ‘[name]Jasper[/name]’ is used rarely as a name for wasps and then normally in a cute way rather than slang. I know a 4yo [name]Jasper[/name] who’s very sweet

From your list I love [name]Henry[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Stellan[/name], [name]Rafe[/name] and [name]Jago[/name]. I’d suggest: [name]David[/name], [name]William[/name], [name]Oscar[/name], [name]Jude[/name], [name]Harry[/name], [name]Daniel[/name], [name]Leo[/name], [name]Ethan[/name], [name]Noah[/name], [name]Charlie[/name], [name]Tristan[/name], [name]Lucas[/name], [name]Hugo[/name], [name]Felix[/name], [name]Archie[/name], [name]Owen[/name], [name]Lewis[/name] ??

[name]Torrin[/name], [name]Rafe[/name], and [name]Henry[/name] are my favs. Honestly, the reason boy names are so tough for me is because I feel like I can’t be as creative with them for fear that it’ll sound girly (or just completely non-masculine) and he’ll be teased.

Interesting that jasper for wasps isn’t always used! I think he just doesn’t like the name and can’t think of another reason! Lol!

All this name talk is hypothetical for me at the moment, but it does bug me that whilst I have “the one” for a girl,I don’t for a boy.

I could see myself using [name]Jasper[/name],[name]Rafe[/name],[name]Torrin[/name] or [name]Henry[/name]…but then the others crop up. And that’s still “the four” lol! I want to use the middle name [name]Aneurin[/name] so [name]Torrin[/name] is probably out because the sound repeats itself.

It was so much easier when it was [name]James[/name] or [name]Alexander[/name],end of!

I like [name]Noah[/name] and [name]Lucas[/name]! But [name]Noah[/name] is unbelievably popular in [name]Wales[/name],I didn’t realise until I saw the offici statistics!
I think that’s the thing with boys names,I like a lot but don’t really love just one!

I think [name]Jasper[/name] [name]Aneurin[/name], [name]Rafe[/name] [name]Aneurin[/name] and [name]Flynn[/name] [name]Aneurin[/name] are the winners from your choices …thumbs up all .

What about [name]Arlo[/name] [name]Aneurin[/name], [name]Montgomery[/name] [name]Aneurin[/name] or throw a googly in [name]Taliesin[/name] [name]Jasper[/name] …enjoy

I adore [name]Jasper[/name]! I’ve never heard of it being slang for anything so I say go for it.

From your list, I really like [name]Flynn[/name], [name]Stellan[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Leander[/name], & [name]Arthur[/name]!

You might also like, [name]Kieran[/name], [name]Kellan[/name], [name]Greyson[/name], [name]Evander[/name], [name]Anders[/name], & [name]Sebastian[/name].

I have the same problem. I feel like with boy names, it feels like there’s a lot more limitation on “acceptable” names. Girls can get away with a lot more unique names, and it seems more acceptable to give a traditionally male name to a girl than vice-versa. [name]Even[/name] though I felt like the sky was the limit with girl names, I had my mind made up on the perfect one. Now that this baby has turned out to be a boy, I find myself struggling, as every name I like is in the top 100, is so obscure that I’m afraid he’ll get a bad reaction from the other kids, doesn’t fit well with the last name or has been ruined by negative associations.

My picks from your list would be [name]Henry[/name], [name]Leander[/name] and [name]Arthur[/name]. Maybe [name]Flynn[/name].

I’m from southern [name]England[/name] and I’m sat here thinking “what?!” I’ve never in my life heard [name]Jasper[/name] as slang for wasps, ever.

I adore the name and don’t let this random wasp thing hold you back from using it.

I love [name]Rafe[/name], [name]Henry[/name], [name]Jasper[/name] (didn’t know about jasper but I’m not English), [name]Flynn[/name] and [name]Torrin[/name]. I also agree boys names are ,uh harder than girls. Good [name]Luck[/name]
