Brady to honor Bradley?

Could [name_u]Brady[/name_u] be used to honor [name_u]Bradley[/name_u]? We don’t want to use the exact name, and we don’t like [name_m]Bradford[/name_m], so we thought of [name_u]Brady[/name_u].

If you are on the fence about it, can you think of any others that could be used to honor [name_u]Bradley[/name_u]? We want to stay away from names ending in N since our last name ends with N

Thoughts, please?

I think [name_u]Brady[/name_u] would be fine. It contains the name brad so why not

[name_u]Brady[/name_u] works.

[name_m]Bram[/name_m], [name_m]Radley[/name_m] (like [name_u]Boo[/name_u] [name_m]Radley[/name_m] in To Kill a Mockingbird?), [name_m]Brock[/name_m], and [name_m]Bradbury[/name_m] would work, too.

I’m not a fan of [name_u]Brady[/name_u] (or [name_u]Bradley[/name_u]), but [name_u]Brady[/name_u] to honour a [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] definitely works. The letters are all there, in that exact order.

I think [name_u]Brady[/name_u] honors a [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] really well. I’m not so keen on [name_u]Brady[/name_u] myself, but it’s certainly not terrible (miles ahead of [name_m]Bradford[/name_m]…)

I love the suggestion of [name_m]Bram[/name_m], but for me, it’s not close enough to [name_u]Bradley[/name_u] to link well as namesake and would clash with your surname (by the looks of it).

I definitely think you can use [name_u]Brady[/name_u] to honor a [name_u]Bradley[/name_u]. I know I am in a very small minority (here on the forum - in the states the name was ranked at 136 in 2012) , but I like [name_u]Brady[/name_u]. I think it is a very handsome name.

Thanks everyone! I’m feeling a bit better about [name_u]Brady[/name_u] (can’t say the same for girl names though)! I’m not a fan of [name_m]Bram[/name_m], [name_m]Radley[/name_m], [name_m]Brock[/name_m], or [name_m]Bradbury[/name_m], sorry :frowning:

[name_u]Brady[/name_u] just makes me think of [name_m]Greg[/name_m], [name_m]Peter[/name_m], [name_u]Bobbie[/name_u], [name_u]Jan[/name_u], [name_f]Cindy[/name_f], and [name_f]Marsha[/name_f], [name_f]Marsha[/name_f], [name_f]Marsha[/name_f]. [name_m]Brandt[/name_m] or [name_u]Leigh[/name_u], perhaps?

The [name_u]Brady[/name_u] Bunch connection doesn’t really bother us. One reason being that it’s not all that bad of a connection and the other is that by the time our child is in school, no one is really going to even know what it is. [name_m]Brandt[/name_m] looks weird to me, I think it’s the “dt” at the end…I don’t know, something isn’t right to me and [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] is a big boring in sound and the spelling reminds me of super trendy names/misspellings which I don’t like, sorry :frowning:
