Brainstorming a middle name that honors 3 family members at once?

Okay Nameberry - here’s a challenge.

Due in [name_f]September[/name_f], gender will be a surprise until then. We will be naming a boy “[name_m]Saul[/name_m]”. However, for a middle name, I’d like to find a name that honors my husband’s dad, my favorite uncle who recently passed, and my dad – without using ANY of their names directly. The two most important names to incorporate are [name_m]David[/name_m] and [name_m]Richard[/name_m]; incorporating [name_m]Robert[/name_m] would be a nice bonus, but not vital.

The middle name must be legitimate (i.e., not be mashed-up combo of these names). I’ve been trying to figure out how take name meanings from these 3 names to generate a name, or find another name based on a shared meaning (see below); though, unfortunately, we don’t care for “[name_m]King[/name_m]” itself as a middle name.

Name meanings:
[name_m]David[/name_m] - beloved, but also a “king name”
[name_m]Richard[/name_m] - ruler/king
[name_m]Robert[/name_m] - famous

Alternatively, I’m willing to sub-out [name_m]Richard[/name_m] for an ocean/water/beach name (my uncle’s favorite place in the world was a local bay/beach). So an ocean/water/beach name that also works with [name_m]David[/name_m] (and possibly [name_m]Robert[/name_m]) would be an option as well.

Based on this histories/meanings/sounds of these 3 names, can anyone generate a single, silver-bullet middle name? Thanks in advance for your creativity!

I adore the name [name_m]Saul[/name_m], so we’re off to a good start  However, this is challenging… Let me know what you think of these combos:

[name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_m]Kingston[/name_m] - I agree that [name_m]King[/name_m] in the middle name spot isn’t a good fit, but I do like [name_m]Kingston[/name_m]!
[name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_u]Kingsley[/name_u] - don’t like it as much as the above, but it’s an option
[name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_m]Roderick[/name_m] - [name_m]Roderick[/name_m] means “famous ruler” and fits the meaning all three names (more or less) into one!
[name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] - [name_u]Ryan[/name_u] means “[name_m]Little[/name_m] [name_m]King[/name_m]” and since he’s the grandson/nephew of two “Kings” it just might work!

Another option: you could use a common king name ([name_m]Edward[/name_m], [name_m]Charles[/name_m], [name_m]William[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] etc.) because [name_m]David[/name_m] and [name_m]Richard[/name_m] are regal/kingly names.

This is all I’ve got for now :frowning: Shorter list than I hoped for. Let me know what you think and I’ll come up with more tomorrow based on your feedback!

[name_u]Rey[/name_u] is Spanish for [name_m]King[/name_m], so maybe that? I love previous poster’s suggestions.
[name_m]Arthur[/name_m] would be cool as the name of a famous legend king… This is indeed very hard. What about your dad and uncle’s last names? Could they be incorporated instead?

As for a beach/sea theme, I like [name_u]Neptune[/name_u], [name_f]Marin[/name_f] or [name_m]Marino[/name_m] and [name_m]Oceanus[/name_m].

[name_m]Saul[/name_m] [name_u]Neptune[/name_u] actually fits both criteria
