Braverie for a girl

So, to start with, my name is [name]Liberty[/name] [name]Grace[/name]. [name]Love[/name] it, always have, always will. My siblings all have unique names ([name]Sterling[/name], [name]Harmony[/name], [name]Serena[/name], [name]Verity[/name], [name]Freeman[/name]). Now I’m pregnant with my first child (baby girl due in [name]June[/name]) and I am having the hardest time finding a name my husband and I like. (His family has much more traditional names; his is [name]John[/name], goes by [name]Johnny[/name], but he is open to unique names like mine.) Anyway, on a word-name list I saw the name Braverie. I really like it. So does my eldest sister. My husband likes it too but wants to keep looking for other potentials.

My problem is this: is Braverie too out there? Considering I have a word-name that could be considered out there and I love it, I don’t know.

If you don’t like Braverie do you have any other suggestion for good names with a strong meaning? I always loved that my name had a strong meaning (named not patriotically but after the Bible verse Galatians 5:1, “It was for liberty that [name]Christ[/name] set you free…”) and would love to give my daughter a strong name too.

Thank you in advance for your help!!!

I think it’s too out there. Braverie will always look misspelled to me (sorry!) Here are a few strong sounding virtue names:
[name]Clemency[/name]
[name]Amity[/name]
[name]Cornelia[/name]
[name]Constance[/name]
[name]Temperance[/name]

[name]Hope[/name] you find something you like! [name]Welcome[/name] to Nameberry!

[name]Bravery[/name] is a word. Why would you mispell it? [name]Imagine[/name] having to spend your life spelling your name if your parents had called you [name]Libertie[/name].

[name]Bravery[/name] is a very nice virtue name and it fits nicely with yur family. Other ideas: [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Amity[/name], [name]Clemency[/name], [name]Mercy[/name], [name]Constance[/name]/-y, [name]Honor[/name], [name]Temperance[/name] (all traditional choices), [name]Unity[/name], [name]Victory[/name], [name]Glory[/name], Lucidity, [name]Everly[/name], [name]Blithe[/name], (more unusual ones).

Noooo way. It’s a misspelled word that doesn’t work as a name.

There are some nice word names out there that have a history of being used as such. I really like [name]Amity[/name], [name]Felicity[/name], [name]Constance[/name] or [name]Honor[/name] for you. [name]Blythe[/name] would also be pretty.

With [name]Avery[/name] rising as a popular name I also fear [name]Bravery[/name]/Braverie would be misheard as that. I think it’s a nice idea (both [name]Bravery[/name], and giving her a name that fits into your family since you’ve all had positive experiences with it) but I do think [name]Liberty[/name] is by far a more wearable unusual virtue name than [name]Bravery[/name]/ie. I really like a lot of the suggestions here, [name]Verity[/name] is a favorite of mine and I also really think [name]Clarity[/name] could be interesting and a little more out there than [name]Verity[/name].

But also think outside the virtues - I’m sure a beautiful word name will find its way to you!!!

Well what do you all think of [name]Bravery[/name] spelled correctly? I completely understand what you are saying about the misspelling. [name]Felicity[/name] was a frontrunner for us but then a dear friend (not knowing of course) named her daughter that!

I love unusual virtue names and definitly think [name]Bravery[/name] is usable. But why Braverie instead of [name]Bravery[/name]? Can you please explain your reason’s for changing the spelling, I’m curious and really don’t get it.

Braverie is definitely not a good choice imo.

[name]Bravery[/name] is fine, but on a boy only imo. It’s too much on a girl.

Names with a strong meaning include [name]Audrey[/name], [name]Audra[/name] annnnd I’m drawing blanks, lol.

I read that spelling of it on a name list. I think the ending makes it a little more feminine. But I can totally see how she would already be clarifying her name enough without having to tell them how to spell it too.

I’m not sure why [name]Bravery[/name] is more of a boy’s name than girl’s. I think girls need to be brave just as much as a boy. [name]One[/name] way it doesn’t seem too far out is because [name]Avery[/name] IS a really common girls name and [name]Bravery[/name] is just a syllable off that.

I agree with @east93, [name]Bravery[/name] is sounds masculine. And [name]Avery[/name] is a common girls name, but it is also used as a boys name (there are several male [name]Avery[/name]'s at my high school.)

[name]Bravery[/name] I think works well especially with it’s link to your family

I think it certainly helps “normalize” that name that her mom and most of her aunts and uncles have similar names.

sorry, I love word names, but Braverie is too out there.

suggestions:
[name]Clarity[/name]
[name]Mercy[/name]
Gloriana “[name]Glory[/name]”
[name]Hero[/name]
[name]Serenity[/name]
[name]Amity[/name]
[name]Honor[/name]

or maybe a name that means brave
Amitza
Arelie
[name]Bernadette[/name]
Wyetta

Arelie is pretty.

Thanks, everyone, for suggesting replacement names if [name]Bravery[/name] isn’t your speed.

[name]Reverie[/name]?

Shares a lot of similar sounds and has a positive meaning. Bta, I really like [name]Bravery[/name] for either gender.

I think Braverie is sweet. The spelling is pretty, but I imagine she would have a lifetime of correcting the spelling.

Some others you might like:

[name]Justice[/name]
Witness
Kindred
[name]Mercy[/name]

I considered [name]Reverie[/name], but didn’t think the meaning was quite right. But I do love the sounds it shares with [name]Bravery[/name].

[name]Bravery[/name] is a word; please spell it correctly. Otherwise you look uneducated, and I’m sure that’s not the case. I like it as a name.

Southern, yes I said a few posts back that I am completely sold on the correct spelling of [name]Bravery[/name]. I saw it originally spelled Braverie (to feminize it) and that is why I posted that.

It’s cute! But I like it spelled [name]Bravery[/name]
