Breanne/Breanna

What do you think of this name? It’s definitely a name from my generation, so dd would have an “old lady” name, but she would be the only girl around with that name. DH had a dream that this was her name and we both have been thinking about it ever since.

We don’t know about the spelling either. Maybe Brianne/Brianna?

I love [name_f]Breanne[/name_f]! I’ve never met a [name_f]Breanne[/name_f] before. [name_u]Unique[/name_u] but easy to pronounce and spell

I prefer the Brianne/Brianna spelling, it looks neater to me. Out of the two, I prefer Brianne.

Overall, the names do feel quite dated to me, and have a bit of a bratty image, but I’d probably change my mind if I met one.

For something similar with a similar sound but fresher, you might like Bryony or Briony, Belle, Briar, Bridget, Blair, Blythe, Ariana or Lianna.

i do agree with @tallemaja that both sound a little dated but i definitely prefer [name_f]Breanna[/name_f] out of the two. [name_f]Brianna[/name_f] would be my preferred spelling xx

It’s a nice name, and I prefer it with the A ending. The story behind it is sweet too!

I think you’re right that it will feel more tied to our generation than a 2020s generation. It did have a big and sudden spike in popularity around 20-30 years ago so it may date slightly, but the sounds feel pretty contemporary still (with Br- and -anna names still popular).

I’m not sure I agree that it’s dated necessarily–it doesn’t feel quite as tired as other 80s/90s names. All in all, I prefer the cleaner Brianna/Brianne spelling, and I love the nickname [name_f]Bri[/name_f]!

I like it, especially with the i spelling.

I prefer Brianna!! It just looks tidier to me  it’s a sweet name and still feels quite fresh

I prefer [name_f]Brianna[/name_f]. It’s not a name I would choose myself but I like it for other people. [name_f]Breanne[/name_f], [name_f]Breanna[/name_f], [name_f]Brianne[/name_f] and [name_f]Brianna[/name_f] don’t seem dated to me.

With names like [name_f]Briella[/name_f] and [name_u]Briar[/name_u] and [name_f]Briony[/name_f] popping up amongst babies and little girls of late, I think Breanne/Breanna still works. I prefer [name_f]Breanne[/name_f] to any alternatives, because it feels more fresh and I don’t love the Is,

I like Brianna very much. Yes it is connected more with a previous generation, but anna ending names always sound good. I much prefer Brianna over Brianne - which sounds a lot more dated to me. I also like the Breanna spelling.

[name_f]Brianne[/name_f].

Not my style, but it’s pretty especially written down.

I prefer Breanna out of the two. I can’t say I agree with previous posters that either names are “dated”, though that may be from personal associations.
