Brecken or Holden...? :)

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] everyone,

[name_m]Just[/name_m] wanting some opinions on a name for our second baby! IF we have a baby boy, do you prefer [name_m]Brecken[/name_m] or [name_m]Holden[/name_m]? We love them both! Also, if you choose [name_m]Brecken[/name_m], which spelling would you recommend ([name_m]Breccan[/name_m] or [name_m]Brecken[/name_m])?
Also, if it makes a difference, our little daughter’s name is [name_f]Eliana[/name_f].

Thank you!

I like both [name_m]Breccan[/name_m] and [name_m]Holden[/name_m]. I prefer [name_m]Breccan[/name_m] to [name_m]Brecken[/name_m], though I can’t tell you why exactly. I think [name_m]Breccan[/name_m] just looks less harsh, a bit more approachable.

With [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], I slightly prefer [name_m]Holden[/name_m]. I think because [name_m]Breccan[/name_m] strikes me as distinctly Irish in contrast with [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]. [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] and [name_m]Holden[/name_m] are a bit more cross-cultural to me. I don’t even usually care about that stuff though, but just explaining why [name_m]Holden[/name_m] strikes me as a better fit.

Good luck!

Thanks so much for your input! That all makes sense and I really appreciate it!

I’d pick either [name_m]Brecken[/name_m]/[name_m]Breccan[/name_m]. [name_m]Brecken[/name_m] looks a little more modern with the K, [name_m]Breccan[/name_m] looks more classic and a little softer. I’d think I lean towards [name_m]Breccan[/name_m].

To me [name_m]Brecken[/name_m] sounds kinda harsh so naturally I prefer [name_m]Holden[/name_m]. If you go with [name_m]Brecken[/name_m] I would go with the spelling [name_m]Breccan[/name_m], it looks so much better.

[name_f]Eliana[/name_f] is a really beautiful name, great choice

I prefer [name_m]Breccan[/name_m] over [name_m]Brecken[/name_m]. I think they both go well with [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] but I slightly prefer [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] and [name_m]Holden[/name_m].

I prefer the name [name_m]Brecken[/name_m] (this spelling too!) I taught a little boy how had this name and he was completely adorable.

Both names are pretty great, I do prefer the [name_m]Breccan[/name_m] spelling. To go with [name_f]Eliana[/name_f] I prefer [name_m]Holden[/name_m].

Both are great- I would save the other for a future sibling

My favourite is [name_m]Holden[/name_m], but I also love [name_m]Breccan[/name_m]

I prefer [name_m]Holden[/name_m] with your little girl’s name.

[name_m]Breccan[/name_m]/[name_m]Brecken[/name_m] - I like both spellings.

Thanks so much to everyone for your replies-it really does help to get some others’ thoughts on our names! I am still torn but reassured that either name will be a good fit for us!!

I prefer [name_m]Holden[/name_m] much more. Handsome and strong.

With [name_m]Brecken[/name_m], I think I prefer the [name_m]Brecken[/name_m] spelling. The ‘cc’ in the [name_m]Breccan[/name_m] gives it a more feminine vibe to me, I think it’s reminding me of [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]…the middle ‘ecca’ segment. Interesting name either way, going to check out the origin/definition.

*[name_m]Just[/name_m] checked [name_m]Breccan[/name_m]/[name_m]Brecken[/name_m]/[name_m]Breckin[/name_m] out. I see [name_m]Breccan[/name_m] is the original spelling. Hmm. I generally prefer an original spelling over a variation but I still like [name_m]Brecken[/name_m] the best.

Thanks Tiannarose! It seems most like [name_m]Holden[/name_m] more (especially with [name_f]Eliana[/name_f]) but that we should definitely hold on to [name_m]Breccan[/name_m]/[name_m]Brecken[/name_m] for a potential future son. I think [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], [name_m]Holden[/name_m] and [name_m]Brecken[/name_m] mesh nicely!!

[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f]

Agreed. They do all three work together well. I love the freckled/speckled definition of [name_m]Breccan[/name_m]/[name_m]Brecken[/name_m] - so cute. Any chance yours might have freckles?!
