Bridgerton is giving me name-envies!

Featherington family is giving me the most intense baby name envies. Mother [name_f]Portia[/name_f] and sibset [name_f]Philippa[/name_f], [name_f]Prudence[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]. Not to mention there is a [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] Bridgerton! Is it crazy to name a child [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] in your opinion?

No, [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] is totally acceptable imo. But maybe I’m biased after spending a lot of time on Nameberry, aka the land of outlandish names :sparkles::grin:

I agree! [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] is interesting and works, in my opinion, although it’s definitely an unusual and eye-catching choice. [name_u]Love[/name_u] those P names too!

I prefer [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] for a boy personally because for a girl, it reminds me a of Keeping Up Appearances (I think @hyacinthbucket must recognise this reference!)

I think [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] is perfectly acceptable!

Hyacinth is usable in my opinion! Personally, I would only consider it as a middle, though. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] is a lovely option! It’s always has been one of my choices for a boy!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] this!

[name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] would be really cool!

I think of this [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] as well! But overall I think flower names work best for girls and it’s still usable!

I spend yesterday bingeing Bridgerton and I loved how their kids were named in alphabetical order, made it easy to keep track lol

I’m excited to see [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] being used as a name because [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] is one of my favourite flowers, and it appears in my favourite poem (T.S. [name_u]Eliot[/name_u]’s Wasteland)!! [name_m]Can[/name_m] also use the more normal nn [name_f]Cindy[/name_f]. How cute!!

I confess to being a [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] naysayer through and through, but since watching the show I’ve changed my tune, and realised what a gorgeous name it actually is. Something about seeing it used on a person kind of gets you over the hump and helps you to see it as a name!

Penelope Featherington is such a sweetie, love her and her name

I also love [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_m]Benedict[/name_m]. The author really has great style!!

[name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] feels very out there to me, but I still think it’s usable!

Tbh, yes.

Firstly, I am loving Bridgerton… The [name_u]Duke[/name_u] of Hastings is :drooling_face:

There’s a mix of great names in this and also some I’m not massively keen on… Like [name_m]Simon[/name_m] unfortunately and in not a massive fan of [name_f]Daphne[/name_f] and [name_m]Colin[/name_m] either! [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] is definitely a usable name in the UK (not sure where you’re based) although it does remind me of [name_u]Hyacinth[/name_u] Bucket from the sitcom Keeping up Appearances :joy: but Bridgerton is a nice new association for a younger generation, gorgeous name.
