So i have quite a long list of names for my lil girl… fourteen names to be exact hehe
[name]Bridget[/name] is one of them, and i dont really know what the appeal is but i love the name! It seems to me really feisty and a little bit english and tough but not harsh. [name]Do[/name] others find it too harsh? I dont really mind harsh names, i 'm a bit sick of all the soft sounds tbh!
maybe it was sisterhood of the travelling pants that helped sell it for me lol! ([name]Bee[/name] is such a cute nn!)
What do people think of when they see the name [name]Bridget[/name]?
Really not my style, and yes it does seem quite harsh to me. Although, it does remind me of the lovable [name]Bridget[/name] [name]Jones[/name] (’ Diary). I think you have some nice, not-too-soft names in your signature that I like a lot better than [name]Bridget[/name]. My favorites from your list are: [name]Sapphire[/name], [name]Liberty[/name], [name]Cassidy[/name], [name]Juniper[/name], [name]Willow[/name], and [name]Rowan[/name].
[name]Bridget[/name] is gorgeous! When I think of [name]Bridget[/name] I think of a strong willed, independent woman. And Irish too. Other than that I really like [name]Hazel[/name] , [name]Willow[/name] and [name]Delphine[/name] from your list. They’re exquisite!
[name]Bridget[/name]'s very nice. A bit, bit dated, but still nice. Alternatives to [name]Bridget[/name] is the french [name]Brigitte[/name], a bit to frilled for me. I think [name]Birgit[/name] is appealing. I prefer spelling [name]Brighid[/name], really.
I love [name]Bridget[/name]! I wanted to use it this time w/ gaelic spelling…[name]Brighid[/name] since other daughter has gaelic name. [name]Bridget[/name] is a verrrry common name in my family and always w/ nickname [name]Bridie[/name]. I love it but my husband said no way
I love [name]Bridget[/name]. It makes me think of a small, chubby toddler and CHOCOLATE, because of a line of filled chocolate candy sold in a regional candy store franchise, called Smidgens (“[name]Bridget[/name]” and “Smidgen” look alike)! (If you’re not from the northeastern U.S., this will help: http://www.gertrudehawkchocolates.com/products/categories/smidgen-packs-tubs).
I would have [name]Bridget[/name] on my own list, but it doesn’t flow well with my last name. It also makes me think of “[name]Gidget[/name],” an American TV show from the 60s about an adorable girl who was nicknamed that. As a nickname for [name]Bridget[/name], I would go with [name]Biddy[/name].
I have a [name]Brigid[/name] nn [name]Bea[/name]/[name]Bee[/name] so I must say I have a soft spot for [name]Brigid[/name]/[name]Brighid[/name]/[name]Bridget[/name]. And we’ve yet to meet any little girls (my daughter is 4) with any variation of the name! We chose it in part because it is familiar sounding and spunky yet sweet and not too overused.
I think the strong sounds make the name so appealing, and gives it that fiery edge to it. I like strong and feminine names and this one that I like but I don’t think I’d use myself. The nicknames [name]Bee[/name] and [name]Bridge[/name] are too sweet.
It isn’t a favorite for me personally because I do prefer mainly the “soft” names, however there is an adorable little [name]Bridget[/name] (age 3) in my son’s class so I definitely think it’s a usable and fresh choice. =]
Loving all the replies! It truly is growing on me! there are so many lovely names out there lol, i am in love with all the names on my list but trying to narrow them down! I think [name]Alison[/name] is coming off the list.
I love how strong it sounds… defintely a keeper for the list. [name]Love[/name] [name]Bridie[/name] as a nn and [name]Bee[/name] or [name]Birdie[/name] even!
